I wish iChat would do more than just .Mac and AOL. It's time every chat program just did them all. I would love to see apple really make iChat shine. Video Conf and all major chat types supported!

It's hard enough for me to SMS with that keyboard, but blogging? Get out!

I donno why U find it difficult to type with the IPhone keypad... I guess we had a 5-pages discussion on MR just arguing about the Iphone keypad in one of the MR- iTablet threads.... But trust me IPhone sports one of the best handheld keypads. I am able to type on that awesome keypad even without looking. All features welcome.... Keep it rolling :apple:

I-Infinity loop is my Mecca :D

I'm very confused, weren't these patents filed months ago? How is it that they are just now getting recognized?

I also hope that people realize that people patent alot of things, doesn't mean it will be released. I hope so, but I don't want anyone to get let down.

Deaf People Love Video Conferencing

How else do we communicate? By signing and watch others sign...I'm superEXCITED about this video conferencing feature and I just know millions of deaf people will buy this iPhone!

No, I hope that Apple will kill AOL-Support in iChat and .mac and offers just Jabber.

AOL, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Skype = crap
Jabber = the only solution (also for the enterprise).

Same here I dont know why people complain about it. It's really rapid to type on.

Tell you this. If all those features somehow miraculously made it into iPhone 3G then we are in for one HUGE keynote from El Jobso to cover it all lol. As I said, that is one big ass document!!!

A company filing patents for a new product can request that the patents not be released early and the government patent office will usually oblige so as not to disclose a product before the manufacturer wants it to be disclosed. Eventually it is public record, but does not have to be made public long before it is used.

Sounds like a lot to stuff into a phone. Sounds more like a tablet that can ride on a 3G network.

And we're all so happy for you, but for people who have problems, your post is useless. How about some tips next time.

Half of the Fanboy's Iphone Features WishList is something which should have been there in IPhone-1 itself like

  1. Full SMS & MMS support
  2. Full Blue tooth support
  3. 3G
  4. Video Recording

Better late then never... Eventhough I understand where you are trying to get but its obvious that IPhone-2 will have to have most of these features if apple aims to captivate the world phone market and specially technically compitetive markets like Japan. Also any highend portable device priced in the $500+ bracket which the guess is the IPhone-2 will be will have to have these features. Because its apple they can still get away with it.... but I hope apple gets it right this time around.

Videoconferencing next killer app...

I think this will transform once again the competitive landscape and send RIM and other manufacturers scrambling to catch up...

I am not sure however if the cost to deliver this service from extra load on the network makes sense to carriers...

The US Patent and Trademark Office has recently published an extensive patent application, seemingly for the 3G iPhone and software version 2.0, both now expected to be released next Monday.

Also detailed in the application is support for inline media, including Flash and Windows Media.

Among the 25 inventors listed is Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

Told yal the bridges indicated more than the two platform thing yal were speculating on. VIDEO CONFERENCING ! Let's go baby ! Let's go.

Guys what I'm saying is, I swear that I saw the pictures of these patents weeks, probably months ago. I could have sworn that the pictures were already released of these patents. How is it that they are just now getting popular?

I really hope they have an iphone model without the video conferencing, unless its a free addition to the unlimited data of the iphone plans. I dont want to pay extra for a feature im never going to use. All I can say to the video recording is YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly. I love the thought but I hope it's a free feature. That would be a great move by Apple and also something that they would definately do, but phone companies are greedy beyond belief. Good grief.

IM icon

So I'll take this as a confirmation that the new IM button icon will be a voice balloon with "IM" inside of it, just like the current SMS button (but probably not also green).

These features will very likely make it to the iPhone 2. The Nano model will probably not include GPS, or video conferencing, keeping it slimmer and less expensive than the full featured ones. Only 4 days to go..................... :D

nano model? heh, that'd be sweet! I love the iphone and all, but i'll never buy a phone this big again...such a pain to carry around...

I too am pretty stoked! Except for one thing.... I searched the patent for 'cut', 'paste', or 'copy' and found nothing :-(

Granted, Apple can't patent those operations, but boy oh, Steve better deliver on that front.

Until Monday!
