They don't have to put big 9/11 numbers on their slides, they can just write "Pre-order starting this Friday" or something like this.BTW, I really don't think Apple will start pre-orders on 9/11 anniversary. I just don't think they want to put large "9/11" numbers at the end of their keynote.
Some might think it's silly, but in the hyper-sensitive politically correct time that we're living in, I just don't see this happening.
Carriers have been known to take reservations early, but I don't see APPLE doing this.
so event sept 8 and 3 days later pre order ..... that quick ....

I think that's how it always is. They don't make you wait a week and a half to pre-order.
There will be no issue with this. It has been 14 years, and while we all associate that date with that event, lots of things have been released on that date without issue. If it's a Tuesday, a game is going to get released that day. If it's a Friday, a movie is going to get released that day. It's kind of normal at this point.
Nintendo is releasing their Mario Maker game on 9/11 this year (nintendo always does Friday launches), and they have to put that on all their presentations and advertising. If it was a problem then the US division would just release it a week early or late.
I was at an Apple store earlier and the sales agent said 9/9/15. Now whether he is right or not is yet to be seen.
