Honestly it may be a pre order date but it's not a date Apple would want to use as a sign of respect but we will see
Apple isn't going to come and say pre order "Septeber 11" they'll more than likely say pre orders being Friday.

We're going on 14 years now. Respect has been given, and can still be given, without the country coming to a stand-still every Sep 11th for the rest of time. At the end of the day, dates are just made-up numbers.

You could be right, they may not do it on the 11th because of it. But I would not agree with it.

I think that's how it always is. They don't make you wait a week and a half to pre-order.

except with the apple watch..... they made us wait F.O.R.E.V.E.R. to preorder after that last keynote announcing official preorder date! FOREVER! (yes.... i'm overly dramatic but I love me my new apple products!)

Called it!
Yup. Me too.
BTW, I really don't think Apple will start pre-orders on 9/11 anniversary. I just don't think they want to put large "9/11" numbers at the end of their keynote.

Some might think it's silly, but in the hyper-sensitive politically correct time that we're living in, I just don't see this happening.

Carriers have been known to take reservations early, but I don't see APPLE doing this.

iPhone 6s pre-order begins at 12:01 a.m. PDT on September 12.
