Just go tmine today

It was the strangest thing. I walked into the Tices corner apple store in NJ and was playing with a white 3G. I was asked by the sales person if I needed help to which I replied "not unless you have one of these" She replied that they had them in white and if I would like one. I replied yes. I got the last one they had in the store. So Apple stores are still getting them apparently. By the way all my doubts and fears about switching from verizon went away as soon as I got it home. This phone is awesome.

Anyone know how long the line has been at the Christiana Mall Apple store in Delaware when it opens? They say they have it in stock but I don't want to drive 45 minutes only to find an hour wait and/or not enough iphones.

Thanks.

Although they would not say how many, our local att store is still getting daily shipments.

Still waiting for mine, though.

Whateva...

No Kidding!!! They already have an iPhone and the 2.0 firmware! They already have 98% of the phone! I can see someone who doesn't have one yet standing in line for 4 hours but not someone that already has an iPhone. No wonder so many new users are giving up on Apple and going back home to their Blackberries! Learn to share! :apple:
.

I have to laugh at you when you write comments like this. "iPhone 1 owners shouldn't be in line!!!" Yea, I was in line with my iPhone1 and got one over a week ago, while others behind me on their blackberries got shut out and didn't get a new iPhone. I then went down to the T-Mobile store and sold my iPhone1 for 375$ cash outside. I had no right to do that while the iPhone1 re-sell market is so hot. I left the mall with a 3G iPhone and 175$ extra cash in my pocket.....what a selfish loser I am.

I live in Nashville and the local Apple store was still out of iPhone's since the first day of sale, the ATT stores have a 10 to 20 day wait on orders. I remembered that Huntsville Alabama had a Apple Store which was about an hour away, I called and they told me they had plenty...picked up the black 16g iPhone and was back home with my new phone within about 3 hours round trip. Anyone in middle Tennessee should call them and make a run for the border for the phone.

I Got It!

I ordered my phone at the Philadelphia ATT store on Saturday and they predicted it will take 21 days to get it, today I got an email saying it will be delivered tomorrow (Tuesday) to the store by FedEx. I hope this stays true- maybe ATT got a new stock!?

I really got the phone yesterday. The ATT rep mentioned that there are other people waiting much longer for a phone (2 weeks +) but did not get it yet. His theory was that my 16gb white model is available much faster.

I was in the Christiana Mall store on Saturday shortly after it opened; they had everything but the black 16G and there was a very short line initially. After about half an hour, the line was considerably longer.
You can call and ask them what it's like, but within 45 minutes, that could change radically. When I go to get mine, I'm gonna be there when the doors open so I can avoid waiting.

Apple Store in Cincinnati (Kenwood) had a bunch of them yesterday. Apparently the lines in the morning were long but I walked in at 8:30 PM because I didn't see a line. I was guessing they had sold out, but to my surprise they still had a huge drawer full of them. I was in and out in 10 minutes. Thankfully I convinced my wife to take my 1st gen so I could get the new one!! :D The rep told me they are getting them daily (as he looked over his shoulder to see if anyone was listening).

I haven't read through all of the pages in this thread. I just came back from a metro-Detroit area Apple Store and found out that each Apple Store maintains a small inventory of iphones held for special cases and returns.

That particular store is not selling iphones to new customers, however I was able to have my iphone upgraded from an 8gb to 16gb just by paying the difference.

got it too!

I got mine on wednesday, when my upgrade eligibility kicked in. The two apple stores near me (mayfair and bayshore in WI) got small shipments in everyday, so i just got there bright and early and was the first to get the iphone that day:)

The Apple store near me hands out numbers to everyone in line at 8am.
They have only enough tickets for the current stock that morning.
You can then return anytime throughout the day to pick up your iPhone.
It has made the store much less hectic and people much less frantic.

Rogers Stores in Toronto get shipments about every 2 days. Usually Tuesday and Thursday. However, they only get about 8 per store(atleast the small ones), and the Apple Store doesn't carry them.

Weird. I am going to go to my local Apple Store tomorrow. I checked the availability by going to apple.com/retail. And it says they have it. What does it mean though? Are they going to have enough? If the store opens at 8 AM, can I still get one if I come at, say, 6 AM?

The online availability tool is pretty much worthless IMO. But yes, getting there super early is your best bet for getting one as if they do have some in stock when they open they will go fast, particularly on a weekend.

I got it :D

They said they had plenty and they still had some when there were atleast 75+ people waiting in line. I was in the 25th place. Not too bad. had to wait for over 2+ hours but its all good. I got my iphone now :D

Christiana Mall (Delaware) update

We used the online tool to check availability last night. Went to the Christiana Mall store here in Delaware this a.m.; they opened at 8 a.m. (an hour earlier than their official opening time on the Web site) and had all phones in stock, just like the online service said they would. My daughter and her boyfriend each got a 3G unit (they were second in line at 8 a.m.); she got a 16G black, he got the white version.

One snafu: He changed carriers from TMobile to AT&T a few months ago when his TMobile phone died and his contract was up. He hesitated to switch and specifically asked if he'd be able to get iPhone without penalty when it became available. The AT&T store rep told him that he could switch to the iPhone with no penalty when it came out. So he signed up for AT&T. Today, he had to pay full price for the phone at the Apple store. The disconnect between Apple and At&T seems massive. He's writing to AT&T to complain and ask for a refund of the difference. We'll see what happens.

I have been pretty frustrated with chasing down this bad boy at Apple Stores. I'm thinking of going to an ATT store, place one for order, and if I can somehow manage to get one at an Apple store before phone I ordered comes in, then I'll just go cancel my order when ATT calls me. Has anyone done this?? I'm in the SF Bay Area, plenty of Apple stores within an hours drive...but still very elusive...

Woke up early this morning and called EVERY STORE within 25 miles

Not one store had any and the Baton Rouge Apple Store sold out AN HOUR AFTER OPENING

WOW

Go to a local AT&T store

For those who don't know, AT&T is now taking in-store pre-orders of iPhone 3G. Just go into a store and request it. Even though they may say that it'll take 2-3 weeks to get the order, my wife and I had them the next day.

Hope this helps,
-Dan Uff
