I don't a iPhone SE with iPhone 14 chassis. Where is my mini phone? Come on Apple, you can do better. Our hand deserve a 3.5inch iPhone.

Current iPhone are so big, I can't even use it with my tiny hands!
I’m sorry but I’m pretty sure that’s not gonna happen never again, and yet more unlikely of 3.5 inches.

Frankly ... if it's still sub 500 bucks, the camera is actually 48 MP, the speakers are anywhere near what a 14 has and they don't artificially gimp the battery .... that's a solid device. Plus they will sell it with a modern SoC plus 8 gigs of ram. So ... I really can't hate this. Yes, it's still Apple Taxed, yadda yadda yadda. But in Apple land this is actually a huge step up.

Sadly not. 😔 But if I could get a 16 Pro Mini I'd still buy that for a premium. My teeny tiny hands may have recently become fashionable again with certain political "changes" the Americans are going through, or so I've heard, but it's still really really hard to use a "modern" iPhone for me. (Everytime I touch my old SE 2016 my hands cry thick tears of regret and sing of better times)

I am mostly done with iPhone Powerbeasts (for me, every device since the 12 seem “good enough” from what I demand) and therefore this new Phone looks tempting. Since there are no Minis any longer, I am especially interested in the weight as I want to carry it unobtrusively in the pocket.

You know they really want something to sell well when they bring out simple black / white color options.

The reasons they don’t, for the regular and pro models, is that they’d look so good no one would feel the need to upgrade. It’s better to sell you ugly stuff that they market as nice looking, to make you temporarily believe it tol, because when they take the marketing away customers perceive it as ugly again and want to upgrade. Fashion does the same thing.

Might not be having both the buttons to distinguish it from the higher priced models. But don't think anyone will be missing it, especially the action button. The camera control button too is not very useful.

can they make a flush camera? not every phone needs to be a professional grade lens, those could be sellable upgrade options. iPhone SE 4 with pro camera, etc even on the pro models iPhone 1* Pro with Pro Camera or something and one with flush camera or some sort of retractable lens.

I’m sad that it will only have USB 2.
Like the Action Button and Camera Control, these are the sorts of things that get left off to save money and/or differentiate it from the more expensive premium models...

Hardly surprising the AB and CC aren't making an appearance, but USB 2 speeds are so 2010s...

If this image confirms the iPhone SE4, I think Apple is officially running out of steam. I can’t recall seeing a truly new design in the past six years

Will sell bucket loads, especially with business contracts that provide a work phone to employees.
Most definitely. The company I work for changed policy a couple of years ago and no longer buy Pro iPhones as most people don't need those sorts of features on a work phone. This SE will be popular in that respect, especially as it is a significant cost saving. I remember the iPhone 5C was a very common work phone, I still have mine somewhere lol.

So many posts about a lack of 'innovation' in what is supposed to be a mid-range, high-margin device. This isn't likely to retail for more than £$500 and will have been costed accordingly by Apple.

This is an increasingly competitive space for companies as consumers look to cut back on spending in the current economic climate. Apple have two hurdles to overcome with this device.

The first is its direct competitor: The Pixel 8a. This represents great value for money with VRR and a wide-angle camera over the SE. I use one every day and cannot fault it. Its regularly on sale from lots of places and the Pixel 9a will be within reach when the SE launches, a model that all but eliminates the camera bump entirely.

The second is the upsell. The SE exists to sell to thriftier custmers its true but it also exists to make the iPhone 16 look better. The £$300 upsell gets a user an extra camera, some buttons you'll never use and a more modern design but will this be enough? People are used to the notch and panorama mode and the wide camera is situational at best.

I see Apple selling a lot of SE's to captive customers who just want another reliable iPhone but I see them doing so at the expense of their other models. People who flit between Android and iOS might just look the other way this time getting less for their money.

A17Pro? I thought we were expecting an A18...

The real innovation is iPhone 14 form factor with the inside of iPhone 16 (minus the ultra wide camera), for at least $100 less than iPhone 14 and at least $300 less than iPhone 16.
Who says it will be $100 less than an iPhone 14? It seems fairly clear this will replace the iPhone 14 in the line-up so why won't the price increase to match?

Because that's the cheapest AI-capable SoC that Apple has available. The base iPad is also rumored to get it.
Given the low yields and limited capacity for the N3B process, I would have thought that the A18 would actually cost Apple less per chip than the A17Pro. Perhaps Apple sees am overall business benefit for including a more expensive chip in the cheaper models to prevent loss of sales of the more expensive models, but this isn't a great look.
