I'm no aware winning computer hardware designer, but you know what.
Just from a logical/practical standpoint, if I HAD to have a camera lens protruding like that, and I'm very pleased they finally have put in a decent camera and flash unit.

I would, without question have placed a raised area, even an additional "button of metal" on the opposite side, so that when you place it n a flat surface, the naked iPad would sit on the camera ring on one side and my additional button on the other side.

Not rock, due to their being one piece sticking out on one corner of a rectangle.

I accept many will put a case on, which will mean this is a non issue, but really, it's quite bizarre that a so called world best designer, would design a product that rocked on a flat surface.

Very very odd indeed.

Just ordered an SE, grey 64 gb. Surprised it wasn't available for pickup, but that will save me a trip. I'm pretty excited; small is the new big.

Incidentally, my order claims that the iPhone will ship in 5-7 business days, with delivery 5-7 business days after that. If that's true, I'll probably stop into my local Apple Store (if it hasn't shipped by the 31st) and see if there are any in stock.

The new iPad Pro does not rock when placed on a flat surface according to reviewers.

Anyone that has a 64 LTE iPad Air 2 and Orders an 9.7 iPad pro should be banned from this site. They really crossed the line of greed with this. As tempting it is to simply get a new Apple product, I am finally ok with not doing it. It's refreshing to see plenty still available!

Shut up! You want a notebook with three different kinds of ports, when Thunderbolt 3 could replace them all? No wonder Apple doesn't listen to you. Go find yourself a nice Windows PC with all the ports you like and can't get enough of.

A 49-Port USB Hub Still Isn't Enough
Your reaction to people who's options don't jive with yours is....appalling. Grow up. It's just a company who doesn't care about you. You have made the ignore list. Congrats.

why?

how is this any different than upgrading between ipad model years in the past? the only thing is you can no longer buy a 16gb version which actually goes to prove, in my opinion, how smart apple is to keep a 16gb version around. because in the optics of that, you'd only complain about storage not being enough, but happily buy a 64 gb version versus saying the price is too high.

One big question I have about the 5se is if they've fixed the seal around the lens so dust won't get in. It's been a huge issue with the 5 and 5s. I hope they've fixed this flaw.

Banned? Why?

What if someone wants a 9.7" tablet and would like to sketch with an Apple Pencil. Or as a photographer appreciate the much better display with a wider color gamut? Or would like a higher resolution 12 MP camera? Or want a display with True Tone technology? Or appreciate a much faster A9X processor?

Many will see those features as a solid upgrade.

Wondering why you find happiness seeing plenty still available? That seems weird.

This really is an exercise in marketing what's old is new again thanks to some crafty new product images.

I recently have that problem on my 5S. Pretty annoying. Hoping it is fixed on the 5SE. I'm debating fixing it myself, then selling or keeping for backup.

I think it was a great move by Apple to update the 5S. Obviously, many 5S'ers held off upgrading to the 6's because they wanted something sturdy and small. One of the features I'm most excited about (besides not buying new cases) is the extra battery life - longer than the 6S+ using internet and longer than the 6S in video playback!

First people were complaining about 1GB, then Apple finally updates the entire line to 2GB and people still bitch about that. :p

What Application on iOS requires more than 2GB? I can't even run out of RAM on purpose with my Air 2. Is this disappointment purely just because the 12.9" has more RAM? I was shocked and baffled why the 12.9" even had 4GB of RAM, to be quite frank.

Having compared 4GB of ram on the original iPad pro to the 2GB on my air 2 using safari and multitasking, the differences are pretty apparent. 4GB is so much better.

I'm shocked that people are justifying apples decision to not update the ram. $100 extra for some minor upgraded features when the design has stayed 90% the same over the years and manufacturing costs continue to fall is such a scam.

Well, I was going to get the new iPad pro, but with Stapples having a sale on the bigger iPad Pro, I just went to Best Buy, price matched it, and needed up getting the 12.9 128 Gig iPad Pro

So we should only order whatever you decide is right for us?

Then just buy the Air. Or don't buy anything at all.
$100 for A9X and the ability to use the Pencil is not that bad for some.

I know. It really cracks me up. A lot of people say the new 9.7 iPad Pro needs to have 4GB, because, well, um, yeah, it has "Pro" in the name, and needs to run "Pro level" apps. But nobody is saying what those apps are or what they're doing with them.

Like people are running Matlab, Maya, Solidworks, or some other compute/memory intensive desktop software on their tablet.

and if it had 4GB people would complain that iPad Pro doesn't have enough RAM compared to Surface/Samsung/Whatever

did people think they would give the 9.7 the same specs as the 12.9 pro? that is their main number 1 flagship now.

Nice. iPhone or iPad?

Or an accessory? My smart cover is arriving on that day, iPad on the 31st of course, but no UPS mail yet.

It says the iPad Pro and the (free) Verizon SIM card for it are arriving on Monday.

This was my B-day present from the wife. We didn't order any accessories, but I'll probably stop by my local Apple store this weekend to see what they've got for cases. I'm liking the Apple silicone case and cover.....

I would like to understand how this is possible then.

If you have a flat rectangle, and in one corner of the rectangle you stick, say a (what is it?) 1.0 to 1.5mm thick circular disc.
It will rock, unless the back of the new iPad is not flat is has to rock.

YOU know this is true, everyone other than a very young child understands this has to be the case.

Apple reinvented physics.

Seriously, I would like to know how it is possible. On the other hand, I can't see Apple make such a blunder...

Ok, I guess everybody is lying.

Even though I'm an engineer, I'm glad I still have the imagination of a young child, without the baggage of others telling me what can't be done, in concert of being aware of the possibilities available in manufacturing and knowing Apple's attention to detail.

Good for you on keeping your in-the-box thinking in check!

Took the plunge this morning. 9.7'' iPP 32GB in rose gold with pencil.

I have been without an iPad for about a year but found myself needing one to keep from getting bored on the treadmill. :D. Plus I really want to play with the pencil.:p
