I can't imagine the phone won't look identical the the 6... why go back to a 6 year old design?

Two reasons.
1. Value.
They can update the internals with modern specs without spending on additional engineering, tooling and associated costs.

2. Better design.
Why spend more money on making it look like an inferior product that's thankfully at the end of its life.

All of those look real bad compared to the Galaxy S7

Really? This Galaxy S7:

I have this wild forlorn hope that they'll release two models: a low-end, inexpensive updated 5s (5se?) and a fully featured, blazing fast 4" phone packed with memory in a more iPhone 6-like design (6se?)

I think the 4" phones will be on a two year cycle and always slightly gimped in the spec department. While I will be going from a 6s to the smaller 5se, I think most people will upgrade. They will be upgrading from a 5/5s/5c.

This could all change depending on sales. If they sell millions of these in the first couple of months, they may realize there is still a massive market for small phones.

Reactions: Sea Bass
Which frankly looks almost identical to current iPhone 5s.

I am frankly baffled as to why the antenna strips on iPhone 6s cannot be the same color as the metal chassis. Granted, most people will cover them with a case, but can't Apple make them blend in better?

One of the reasons I prefer the 'Onleaks' version, but the better antennae lines' "blending" might be because of the SpaceGray color.

If this is what the iPhone SE will look like I'm not holding out much hope for an all new design with the iPhone 7.

Really don't want a thinner iPhone 6 design.

Onleaks is the best. I think there will be two 4 inch devices, a8 with 5s design and a a9 with a 6/5s hybrid design

SE probably stands for small edition

Does anyone think that the new 5se will use the same size SIM card that the 6s uses?

I would actually take my hat off if its a half new / new design (6S like) - instead of a 5S body with 6S's internal

Do most assume the SE won't be the first iPhone with no headphone jack? (mockups show a jack).
Seems that they'd make some profit from putting it in the SE model - plus they draw the sting out of making the transition for the 7 and 7 Pro in the autumn.

 no 3.5mm?! that would be odd - requiring new headphone purchase - pushing up the ownership price of a non-high end device?
