To sum up:
1) Apple knows everything
2) We know nothing
3) Only conjecture and opinion can be drawn about Apple’s decisions regarding the SE.

Moving on ...

Regardless of the reason, people will buy others, they don’t want it, etc...the SE doesn’t make sense anymore. Bottom line.

I wasn’t. And if Apple makes it, it makes sense. When the SE 2 exists, that means it makes sense. Until it does, everyone saying so many people want it are wrong.

People want airpower and they just cancelled it, Most of the time it has nothing to do with sales volumes, it's a numbers crunch to squeeze more money per sale. People wanted the earphone plug and Apple blatantly ignored huge amounts of complaints and did it anyways. When you get back to work in Apple marketing today, keep that in mind.

You have no idea how many people even knew about AirPower or how many people cared about a headphone jack.

They removed the headphone jack with iPhone 7 and it didn't impact sales.

They cancelled AirPower because their idea just didn't work or at least well enough for Apple. It was right to cancel a product they weren't happy with rather than release a flawed product that would cause even more damage. It was stupid to announce it before it was ready, but it happens and it's rare for Apple.

You don’t have any idea the “following” the SE has. Only Apple does and it’s not enough to warrant a new one. Period.

And it would seem they may very well be going to introduce a smaller phone this year, albeit with a larger screen due to the reduction in bezel-size.

I guess they may see there is a market that wants smaller phones after all, and that it may be one worth pursuing. So much for all the know-it-all attitude that those of us who perceived a real market for smaller phones were just plain wrong (an assertion not really based on data either, by the way).

When they release something, it's confirmation it should exist. We'll see what they release. Currently, it's not needed.

And a 5 inch screen wouldn't be an SE update.

Actually, with the state of bezels and the state of phones, it kind of would be. Even a 5.3 or 5.4 would be.
