Got my iPhoneSE today from AllDayZip on eBay. Box was sealed and new. Phone was untouched and IMEI on phone matched IMEI on box.

Here is the report on the AllDayZip serial number...

For comparison purposes, here is the serial number report from the SE I bought new at an Apple store in 2017...

This is starting to get silly.
[doublepost=1550604945][/doublepost]WARNING...

These are refurbs. NOT NEW!

upload_2019-2-19_12-35-32.png

New SEs remain sold out.

Are these things refurbished or not?! The URL has "refurbished" in it but the heading says

Certified Refurbished

Clearance Products
Find special deals on select new and unopened products.

https://www.apple.com/shop/refurbished/clearance

And then if you click on an individual product page, it doesn't say anything about being a refurb. I went ahead and ordered one so I don't miss them while they're in stock, and I'll just have to return it if I can't confirm it's new.

In the newer thread on this, they are saying they are NOT refurbished.

Looks like they are ending the life of the SE or something. Complete removal of stock...

I’ve been buying SE’s for a year or so now for $139.00 at Walmart is on prepaid services. I just checked the site and they are sold out in almost all locations after having been reduced to $69. $69! That’s a steal even if the phone is locked to one carrier until 6 months of service.

Depends on the price of the pre-paid service, and whether you're already tied to a service. We once thought $200 was a steal for an iPhone locked to a carrier contract too, and now we pay $500-$1,000 and negotiate the service separately.

If you really want an SE and can't buy one of these new, then it might be worth paying $40 or more a month for 6 months on top of the $69 for a service you don't need. And they're limited to the 32GB for most of those pre-paid SEs, for what amounts to the same money as Apple is selling a 128GB SE on clearance.

Based on what? The phone has much better single-core performance than the Galaxy S8.

It's still an extremely capable device, regardless of its age. Unless Apple seriously drop the ball on software optimisation, there's no reason it shouldn't run iOS 13 smoothly.
Apple has a track record for not supporting a device/feature out of the blue and not being related to it being capable. It wouldn't surprise me if Apple doesn't let ios13 work on the SE despite it having the guts to do so

The most recent instance of that I can think of was the first gen iPad. Otherwise their track record has been pretty good with software updates I’d say.

Then they will also have to restrict the 6S.

Then they will also have to restrict the 6S.

I don’t think this will happen because now the stock of SE’s has been swapped for the 6S. The SE’s were $139.00, now the iPhone 6S on prepaid is $139. It’s $199 for the 6S Plus.

Because almost no one wants an SE.

Too small.

Nah, I use one as my daily driver and have for years. Your larger screen is good for Netflix and media but most userinterface ends up as unused white space. Information density is a lot higher in the apps on an SE, because it has to be.

And whether or not people wanted them they sure sold on prepaid carriers for $139. I live in the Phoenix area now (despite the username) and I see people with iPhone SE’s on our public transit literally all the time. Probably all they can afford and it works great for them. I’ve seen everything from older adult males (40s) to lots and lots of young kids or young adults.

Do you really see no SE’s out and about? I see more SE’s than I have the colored XR’s. I’ve seen one blue, one white, one red and one yellow. Tons and tons of SE

You are not the normal iPhone user.

The fact it doesn’t exist and they are trying to get rid of any remaining stock at low prices means it’s dead and not viable.

My point is that the SE and 6s/plus are essentially identical technology. If Apple drops support for the SE with iOS 13, they’d also have to drop it for the 6s/plus since it would be affected by the same limitations, and I don’t see them doing that.

That’s a pretty specious argument.

Not really...Apple is going to give people what they want in large quantities. It’s just business. Name a popular phone with a 4 inch screen. No one wants that.

It s obvious that there are people out there that want a smaller phone.

But, maybe not enough to make it worth while for phone companies to make.

Besides, given the logic above, Apple would have skipped the iPhone 5 sized screen and jumped right to the larger sized phones that were popular with all of the other phone makers.

And, the SE would have never existed.

Even If a few million people want it, it’s not enough and even if they do, most of those will be another iPhone anyway. There are clearly VERY few people that will just not buy bc they want an SE. If they did, it would exist.

iPhone SE. I know a bunch of people who use them, and a few who want them enough to have a just purchased "new" ones from Apple (to replace aging 5s devices). Many are petite-sized (and attractive!) women who don't like these huge new phones like the Xr.

For movies (etc.) on a bigger screen a lot of them have iPads to use instead of an over-large phone.

“I know a bunch of people that use them.” Definition of anecdotal.

Apple knows the exact number they sold...a number too small for Apple to make another.

It really is that simple. Stop trying to arm chair run Apple. They know exactly what they’re doing and have proven it to the point of the most profitable company in history...by far.

And you don't (unless you are breaking an NDA).
I don’t know, but I do know Apple knows and they’d make one if it were the right thing to do.

Do you have any idea how much data Apple uses to make decisions? Are you in a corporate position anywhere?

There is a 0% chance an SE 2 makes sense from a business perspective.

I agree with this.

They know the number, but that doesn’t mean it is too small.

I think Apple might not want to make a cheaper iPhone option when they know that people would pay more money for a more expensive iPhone. One that has a higher profit margin too.

If Apple offered a cheaper, smaller phone with modern internals, there could be some cannibalization of larger phone sales for cheaper iPhones.

Regardless of the reason, people will buy others, they don’t want it, etc...the SE doesn’t make sense anymore. Bottom line.

People were saying the same thing about the iPad Mini last month.
I wasn’t. And if Apple makes it, it makes sense. When the SE 2 exists, that means it makes sense. Until it does, everyone saying so many people want it are wrong.
