It might be "outdated," but I'll really miss the current look of the iPhone SE when it changes. It's such a classic Apple look. :apple:
I was thinking the other day they should still keep the classic look with updated specs, maybe make a section for them ?

Ah the perfect form. Touch ID, thumb reaches all corners of the screen, one hand operatable. I do not buy it because it was cheap, I bought it because its functionally better than the iphone 16 pro max.

The OLED choice is weird, wouldn't it burn in that static screen elements like time, battery, and telecom name?

nice. Is it edited in any way? where is that?
I also have an iPhone SE 2nd gen (testing purposes) and I’m surprised it still supports iOS 18 as it launched with iOS 13!

I have had OLED phones from Google Nexus 5, every generation of Google Pixel, three Samsung Galaxy, iPhone X to iPhone 14 Pro Max.. none of them had burn in.

The current iPhone SE form factor is coming to end. So be prepared for the change. I guess if you to purchase an iPhone SE 3 new or used, you probably good for next few years.

People move on.

The reason that Apple did bare minimum update with iPhone SE 3 and not updated this for this long is good indicator that people aren't buying them anymore. iPhone SE 3 wasn't an appealing devices when it launched 2 years ago and it is even less appealing now.

The current iPhone SE design is dead end and it is due a new design. The current iPhone design is already more than 4 years old. It is likely that component cost is already low enough to use on new iPhone SE.

I also have an iPhone SE 2nd gen (testing purposes) and I’m surprised it still supports iOS 18 as it launched with iOS 13!

Well, it uses same chips from iPhone 11. iPhone SE probably will be on chopping block when iOS 20 arrives. Assume iOS 19 only drop support for iPhone XS series.

Oh well, you can say this to almost all other phone. My OG Pixel is still running great, if still makes calls, streaming video no problem, take good pictures etc.

All i need to do is unlock the bootloader and Android 14 is running.

iPhone SE became so unusable for me for that tiny screen. The constant scrolling on websites due to the smallish screen, the colour on that LCD is so washed out, and typing on that thing is just sour experience.
You should do like I do before your eyesight takes a hit. Get a laptop and do your reading of websites on that. Use the phone to take pictures and make phone calls.

It's Taos Pueblo in New Mexico, populated by the Tiwa Native Americans. It's just as I shot it, no alteration of any kind. There was a thunderstorm coming in from the west, and it added the drama to the scene. And Adams made a similar photo decades ago. To be honest, the black and white was an accident. I set it that way without knowing it!

The next SE will be very good. It will finally have the design of the modern iPhone. But it is not surprising to see long gap between refreshes. Not expecting Apple to update devices like the SE frequently.

Current iPhone SE is totally inadequate. The SoC still is ok, but everything else, screen included, is ridiculous. It could make sense at €200 as a low-cost iPhone, but here in EU they are still selling at €500 which is a shame.
The new model will probably be like €600… if they use a rebranded iPhone 14 128 GB with an USB C port it could be ok.

The battery on my 2022 iPhone SE is at 82% this week. It's showing some very quick discharging and charging.

Performance is still good but I'm not sure I want to put extra money into replacing the battery to postpone switching phones.

Each time, I pay the US$150 premium right away to have 256 GB of storage. Rather than pay the full price, I've had deals where I paid $0.00 per month for the 2020 and $1.25 per month for the 2022.

I'm a bit concerned that the price will be above US$600 that I'm seriously considering the battery replacement.

To be honest… who on earth buys an iPhone SE for the price it is selling right now. There are so many other options available for a fraction of the price. A more modern overhaul of the SE should’ve happened years ago. Let’s also be honest… for $ 499 you can get a very well specked modern mobile phone these days.
I can't imagine what you've seen, but the only decent phone I've seen at US$499 is the OnePlus 12R, 128GB + 8 GB RAM.

Lol, well, not all are "people". The SE3 is still very much a go-to-solution for companies that need to equip people with "a phone" that can do MFA.
When you're looking at buying 10k phones, price is everything.

Google Pixel A series, Xiaomo Redmi, Nothing Phone is also not expensive, Samsung Galaxy A series. These are decent phone at decent prices.

Why on the earth you wanna buy SE3 just do MFA? Even iPhone 7 can run MFA easily. I can’t imaging companies buy brand new iPhone SE 3 for MFA nowadays.

For those considering the iPhone SE 3 today, the advice is clear: wait. While the iPhone SE 3 remains a capable device, it is difficult to justify its purchase when a redesigned, feature-packed successor is on the horizon.

Depends on the price. Purchased an SE 3 for $130 over a year and half ago. It's bulky with a case on, but no PWM. Was an easy to justify our chase especially as it permitted an upgrade from Apple Watch SE to AW 9 without breaking the bank over a redesigned, feature packed successor!

iPhone SE became so unusable for me for that tiny screen. The constant scrolling on websites due to the smallish screen, the colour on that LCD is so washed out, and typing on that thing is just sour experience.

iPhone SE 2016 is still our go to phone. Screen is bright, colorful. Typing is a breeze and, for me, more accurate than on larger iPhones and iPads — partly because one goes more slowly — and more recent iOSs have the weird habit of selecting full words rather than placing the insertion point where you want it! And, the new ones distractingly suggest nonsense words in pop-up spelling corrections.

Phone is pocketable unlike the HUGE slabs, is speedy, with solid battery life.

Phone is perfect size. Can be held in one hand comfortably.

Website scrolling is no big deal. In fact, if we're going to be spending lots of times browsing websites, newsgroups, etc., we use our venerable iPad Air 2s and iPad 9s. Far better experience than any big iPhones.

The Romans were right:

“De gustibus non est disputandum!”

I can agree with almost everything you said. You might find the screen is decent, but LCD just cannot compete with OLED. I can understand you can type faster on iPhone SE, which I think it is remarkable.

The only thing I can't agree is solid battery life. iPhone SE has never had good battery life, the battery is tiny comparable with modern iPhone. When I had my iPhone SE 2, I often had to charge the phone twice a day and sometime three times a day.

To be honest, if you want pocketable phone, you should hope Apple bring iPhone mini back. Not the iPhone SE form factor.

I don't understand how the iPhone SE could be priced this low and with great specs.

At $300 less, why would anyone buy an iPhone 16?

1,000 days? That's nothing! My 2020 iPhone SE is officially 1,684 days old, and still works the same as the day I bought it. I did replace the battery about 6 months ago, but that's it. Runs iOS 18.1.1 just fine, no lags. Still makes phone calls. Takes pictures, too! How about this one? (eat your heart out, Ansel Adams!)
I love my SE2, but it's excruciatingly laggy for me. Also can't see anything in daylight with the brightness level. I want to replace it, but not interested in a SE3.

But probably oh so profitable to force travelers to choose what is often the lone eSIM provider. Notice who is eSIM capable in mighty America vs. the many, cheaper options who are not.*

And who runs iPhone commercials in America to help sell iPhone? I wonder if the foreign partners most like Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile also happen to be the lone ones with eSIM service offerings? 💰💰💰

*update: I've since be knowledge updated that a number of cheap American players have gone eSIM. I haven't looked in a while and assumed it was mostly still just a few "most profitable", dominant players... as I suspect it is in other countries where the cheap "traveler" options via SIM probably aren't also offering eSIM. But that's speculation too based upon 💰 instead of checking each country to know for sure.
"I've since be knowledge updated". That's a new one on me, I will have to add that to by bingo card😉

Telling my iPhone 7 "hold on, Buddy! Just live a little longer!"

I'm a computer guy. I generally hate phones and use them as little as possible. This iPhone 7 I bought used in 2020 has worked for me just doing what it does. I didn't want to upgrade my phone until I can get USB-C charging. And I have no need for any of the flagship models that do that for the cost of a mountain bike.

The base iPhone 15 or 16 didn’t appeal to you? They have USB-C charging. I’m not so sure how much less expensive the new SE will be in relation to them. If you’re in the U.S. you should be concerned about new tariffs driving up prices in 2025. A base 15 might cost quite a bit less now than the new SE will after new tariffs.

I'm going to wait until I can see an iPhone 17 Air before I decide to get an SE4.

I have the current SE and like it. You can use it in late subway trains and public places without having to fear people want to steal it or classify you as their next victim. Still it is a capable 5g phone with a home button that I like as well. Last year's shape with modern interiors at a good price sounds like the right concept to me.

An iPhone 15 right now costs $699. So: no. That does not appeal to me.

You're really ready to assume a bunch of tariffs are going to just show up? You know that Trump can't just do that, right? It would take a bunch of steps. And it's all about bluffing because it's negotiation.

I'll use my iPhone 7 for ten more years. I don't care. I'd rather they weren't built in China. And if I go without to put pressure on the CCP before they try and attack Taiwan, then good. I'll go without.

My favourite iPhone ever...and I'll be using it until it is no longer supported. I detest faceID and not having a button, I definitely do not want/need a larger phone.
This does everything I need it to do, and I can do it with one hand too. Really the only thing that lets it down is the camera.

Hell, I'm even using the exact same (very expensive) leather slip case that I bought for my then-new iPhone 8.
