Interesting that SE orders are backordered so much. For "lackluster" sales, the ship dates with free shipping on the USA store is April 20-25. I already have mine, but it's interesting that there is a 3 week wait on the estimated ship date. Give Apple a month to get caught up in production?

Don't you know it's a giant Apple conspiracy to make the SE sell worse than the 30M 4" iPhones sold last year, which alone probably only made like ~5x more profit than every phone manufacturer minus Samsung put together? Because like all the other charitable corporations out there, Apple doesn't like making money.

I believe you have to be in an HD Voice coverage area to use WiFi calling via AT&T anyway. No such luck anywhere around here but this reminds me to go to a corporate store in a nearby city and discuss getting a microcell booster. I kept thinking someone would finally bring a tower over here to kill a 400 square mile dead zone but by now I realize the wild promises of the 90s are really over forever. I could be dead myself before a tower materializes here unless some politician or CEO buys a vacation property up here. Then probably we'd have a tower in days. :D

You might need to get a newer SIM (you moved your 5c SIM over, right?), as AT&T started coding SIMs for the iPhone 6 and later a little differently to add support for HD Voice and/or Wi-Fi calling. You should be able to enable Wi-Fi calling, and it works even in Airplane Mode if you go and re-enable Wi-Fi. AT&T even started allowing Wi-Fi calls anywhere in the world back to the US, so it certainly isn't constrained to their network footprint.

If you can enable that, the Microcell is sort of dated and useless - no need to have another device that's a point of failure and waiting for its GPS lock (unless you have multiple older AT&T phones that need service).

My iPhone SE arrived Tuesday of this week. It does have a slight yellow tint at the very top of the screen, and it rattles when you shake it. Neither of these things bother me.

However, it did arrive with a hairline scratch in the middle of the screen. Since I have no intention of placing a screen protector or case on the phone I'm still considering what I want to do about it. Chances are that the screen will pick up a few marks as I use it more and more, but those marks would have been caused by me. I'll give it a bit more thought as I still have time to return it should it really start to annoy me.

One thing I did note is that the home button felt a little loose when I first started to use it. Over time this has improved and it now feels nice and firm.

So far since I live in a dead zone, I have no clue if the SE actually works as a phone, although it's recognized as one by iTunes and the phone number shows up properly. I can usually get one bar if I go upstairs and hold a phone up to a windowpane. But tomorrow my driveways will have de-iced themselves so I can drive up on a higher hill and try out the SE's ability to grab a tower and actually phone home.

Does your carrier support wifi calling?

After 2+ years with my 5s with no screen protector or case (and having dropped the phone several times), it has zero scratches on the screen or the case. Only place there are some defects (which you have to look really closely for) are the chamfered edges.

Weird, I didn't even ask but it shows in the quote... Lol

Has anyone been able to Track by Reference for their SE before Apple gave you the tracking number? If so, what info did you use for reference?

Yes it is very easy, you use your phone number. all 10 digits with no hyphens or spaces. It is the one provided in your Apple order "Bill To" information. Your search should work any time after the shipping label is printed.

I thought it was weird also but here is the story. I added it in my reply quote. In your post it was part of the image, it was at the lower right corner. I thought it was part of your question o_O:oops::eek::D

Yes I had merely moved over my SIM and told AT&T the new IMEI. Thanks for that info. I'm going to go over to a city near here and get a SIM for the SE. Then I'll keep the older SIM in case I have to switch it back to use wtih the 5C temporarily sometime.

I know that a microcell tower works OK around here on people's DSL because a few people in the area have them, but I am not sure about WiFi calling, we only have 3Mbps rated service. Also don't know if the provider has to approve it. But, I can find out!

If a new SIM for the SE makes WiFi calling easy then I wouldn't bother with the microcell. The only reason to have it would be to make it possible to call out from visitor's phones if I added them temporarily to the tower's registry. So I figure instead of that, if they can't use WiFi calling from their own phone on my WiFi, then they can just use my landline.

Just a note: you can only have one SIM active on a line. If you get a new Nano-SIM for use with your iPhone SE, your old Nano-SIM will be deactivated. If you want to use your iPhone 5C you will have to move the active SIM from your iPhone SE. You don't have to call AT&T to move your active SIM between the iPhone SE and the 5C.

You can keep a deactivate Nano-SIM or even a new unactuated Nano-SIM for use in your iPhone 5C. It will not have service but you can put it in the iPhone 5C to prevent the "No SIM" message for example.

The new Nano-SIM is for HD-Voice ( AT&T term for their version of LTE-A) and is not needed for WiFi Calling. So it would be a good idea to get a new Nano-SIM to enable the full function of your iPhone SE. While you might not have good AT&T coverage at home, it would be good to have in other areas. :)

Thanks - next time I'm in that city I'll stop by the AT&T store with both my devices, get a new nano-SIM for the SE, put the old one back into the 5C and make sure they turn on the one for the SE so the old one's deactivated.

Meanwhile I did just try out WiFi calling on the SE, using the nano-SIM that I had swapped in from the 5C. It works like a charm, so I guess 3Mbps is good enough to get the job done. It might not work great at 9pm when everyone in the area who has DSL from my provider is watching Netflix but I can live with that. Thanks to all for the help and encouragement!

They won't charge you to "upgrade" your SIM - they're all backwards-compatible, too (so you could put it with an adapter in an original iPhone or even a flip phone). The part about the IMEI number is just to manually ensure that you have the right data/voice plan for your device, but in most cases their system is pretty good about detecting that after a short amount of time. So, if you use the SE and want to use the 5C temporarily, you can swap the SIM back and forth and not have to contact AT&T.

It's pretty nice and probably uses a little less overhead than the Microcell, as the codecs are using AT&T's current stuff, as opposed to what was available 5 years ago - it comes in handy when I'm in a few buildings at work that are cell signal killers, even if I have fringe Wi-Fi, too.

Spoke to Apple about it and decided that I will indeed return it to them for an undamaged model. Once UPS scan the box in at the pickup point then a new order will be created and I should have a new iPhone at some point next week.

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone else's iPhone SE front facing camera freezes at times? At first I thought it was because I didn't update it to the latest ios, but my front facing camera is still freezing during taking photos after the update. It hasn't been happening often, but I just thought I would ask for peace of mind. I really like my new phone, so I'm hoping it's nothing more than a software bug?

Is there any time of the day when order status changes, normally? I'm just annoyed at myself for checking it so often so it would be lovely if I could limit my stupid checking to once a day. :D

Ordered this morning for pickup later today at 5th Avenue store. I see I got lucky!
