You think THATS bad? According to Nikkei Shinbun (like the Financial Times) in Japan, Apple have shed 69% of their iPhone sales in two years.

That’s more than 2/3rd of their sales between iPhone 12 series and iPhone 14 series (these include all phones not just non-pro)

It could be argued that this is actually closer to a 3 digit decline in sales than merely 1 digit. Lol.

It’s been an Apple massacre over here.
Apples world wide sales, simply do not support you statement

Greedy pricing is partially to blame I suspect. It’s got to a level people aren’t stupid enough to pay for it anymore.

Products don’t justify the price.
So a devise that does so many things, ie; Telephone, communicator, internet browser, content consumption, small computer and a camera, all in 1 is not worth a $1000?

You are a poor financial adviser. After 5 years, the iPhone is worth nothing. You lose all value. Changing every two years means less money spent.
$1000 iPhone for 5 years= $200 per year, resell for minimum $100, that's $180 per year.
$1000 iPhone for 2 years= $500 per year, resell around half-price $500, that's $250 per year.

I would agree that maybe every 4 years might be better.
Also an aging iPhone is less prone to be stolen.
Your maths is a bit off, a 2 year cycle buyer will buy 3 phones at a net cost of $1500, a 5 year cycle buyer will buy 2 phones during that time, at a cost of $1900 😊

Constantly increasing prices and offering minimal improvements is proving to be a bad business model. Shocker!
Prices have stayed the same, if you actually take inflation into account, they have decreased in real terms, which is why I suspect iPhone is skimping on innovation and upgrades

If I had 4 kids, wanted to give them hand me down phones and have an replacement cycle of every 3 years then you end up replacing every 12 months for the parents with the 4 kids holding them from months 13-36.
Yes, I pass down my phone every 24 months, and SO passes up to parents. So we’re both on 2-year cycle while our phones all go through ~5 yr life.

If the top end was £1000 capped for the 1TB 14 Pro Max Model then yes it would be worth it. So the 512 and 256 models would be £900 and £800 respectively.

That’s what happens when there’s a global recession and Apple decides to increase the price of their products in those markets.

What's the excuse for Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, etc. as their sales declined (percentage) even more than Apple's. The industry overall saw an 18.3% decline while Apple only had a 14.9% decline and was able to increase its market share for the quarter.

Shoulda gone USB-C last year. The previous year was good enough that everyone who had that went, and there is now a large enough second-hand iPhone market that very few people NEED to buy the new cheaper one either.

I would have upgraded to USB-C in a heartbeat. I am so tired to having to have a different cable for everything. I think a lot of the EU's requirements are too onerous (in the way many US regulations are way too lax) but I'm 100% with them on this one.

Actually that is not true.

The US dollar is inflated against all other currencies since middle of last year.

This is pushing the REAL cost of the phone up. Point in case, only the US has phones at the lowest prices. (But seem more expensive than other countries due to US dollar price) and other countries such as UK and Japan see anywhere up to a 40% price hike.

2019 - 256gb iPhone 11PM : 108,900
2023 - 256gb iPhone 14PM : 178,000

This is not “keeping the prices level”

If there’s excess inventory and they have a storage problem, I am happy to take it off their hands.

Perceived value is always relative. Besides, all the iPhones before 14 did those things, gradually improving over time.

With the component & manufacturing costs generally decreasing and iPhone 14 costing Apple less to make compared to 13, it might be fair to question these worldwide price increases.

Does MagSafe also handle your data transfer? Oops!

iCloud, OneDrive, Airdrop. The charging cable that came with my 13 Pro Max is still sitting untouched in the packaging.

Understand there’s the issue of Pro Res (which I don’t use) and that’s really the only caveat I can think of.
