Wait… wasn’t apple supposedly going buttonless on the iPhone 15, so why would this one have buttons?

Like the Watch Ultra was built for sports enthusiasts, I think an iPhone Ultra would probably focus on photo/video enthusiasts. The lens arrangement would most likely be different, and there would definitely be an action button — but the rendering has it placed on the wrong side.

It looks like a chubby baby who's predestined to be a sumo wrestler. Please no!

The quality of the work done by the designer is impressive though.

The only solution would be a mag-safe like link with contacts on the back. Like the connector for the keyboard. This is a typical battle between aesthetics and practicality.
I keep seeing posts on how they would/could pull portless off. They already do with the Apple watch and the wireless diagnostics dock that's been posted here before. Would need magsafe to also align the antennas if not a diagnostics port, but if they kept USB2 speed it's completely workable and being used in current products.

Although I'd far rather USB-C so I could just plug it in a monitor, TV or dock though and also be able to charge it anywhere with the ubiquitous USB-C charger rather than having to carry around a special wireless charging pad or magsafe nonsense. Then have to work out sensible wireless charge methods/adapters and have them in cars, on bicycles, work and only get less efficient magsafe wireless charging pads to use with power banks when I'm away or adventuring, and all the other stupid downsides of no port when you can simply just plug it in or have cheap, simple USB-C or lightning cables dotted about in bags, vehicles, different rooms, etc.

So wireless data currently works already (at lightning port speed). Wireless charging is a great option as well but it's a total PITA if it's the only option. So a big no from me.

I can't wait for every future article talking about this "iPhone Ultra" to use this same render until September.
Ergh. My first thought was this looks cool hopefully they don’t just make it a huge phone.

But I’ll be sick of seeing this picture but September. Like the Apple vs Fortnight characters one.

Yes, I am & battery life isn't that great. Wishful thinking. But you are probably right Apple Polishing Cloth in Midnight before then. Maybe we will see a re-design Apple Magic Mouse too, LOL.
truly have never understood Apple’s inability to design a mouse properly—it is honestly just laughable, hence my react to your comment.

somedaaaaaaaaaaaaay! (probably not. oh well)

So far, I have not seen any defense of portless design. What is the benefit? Is it entirely aesthetic?

Damn. I’ve seen some ugly phone concepts in my time. But this one was sent to ugly camp as a kid and beaten with the ugly stick.

That’s fugly af.

Makes me think of that Protective Inflatable Free Guy used when he was falling.

I wouldn't mind if the next Mini had this exact design...assuming of course that it was as durable as it looks and wouldn't require a case. People here are right when they say a phone case erases a large part of the physical design -- it makes most recent phones look like the same phone, just in different sizes/colors.

Some mixed reactions to these renders from the comments, but I like it, chunky and durable like the AW Ultra with those orange buttons and titanium body, just love it. It has to have a minimum 5000 mh battery though.
