Yes but technically it's now illegal. Just playing devils advocate.
Actually that's only for phone manufactured after 1-26-13. Meaning more than 99.9% of the phones available now are still able to be legally unlocked.

I wonder how this law applies to an iPhone swapped out for a refurb under warranty. If you bought the original device prior to 1/26/13 but got is swapped 6 months later--can you unlock the refurb via third party legally? I realize a general sense of fairness says yes--but fairness and the law don't always coincide.
If you unlock the first device that was purchased before 1/26/13. The unlock will transfer to the new/refurbished phone/IMEI.
My Unlocked iPhone 5 (That I unlocked from Ebay) is having issues with the lock screen button on the top of the phone. It looks like I;m going to need to make an apple store appointment.
If they end up giving me a new iPhone 5 will the unlock stick when they transfer the phone in their system to the new phone? Or will I have to pay for a new unlock? It wont really isn't a big deal if I have to, I'm just curious.
Anyone have this happen?
Not sure for warranties however I have heard in cases of AppleCare replacements when they switch the IMEI it supposedly unlocks your replacement phone. Haven't had a chance to test that though.
I'd imagine that you'll get a locked iPhone since unlocking services rely on imei number and your replacement iPhone will have a different imei number.
I checked the IMEI number and it says it is locked. I paid unlockfusion.com to unlock it. Paid for the 12 hour at 10 pm last night. I still have not received an email from them confirming the unlock.
Does it usually take this long?
You went to the wrong site.
That's not the real unlock fusion. That's a fake.
Try swiftunlocks.com
Thank you for the information. If it is a fake, then why have I read several places where people used them successfully to unlock their phones? I just want to get it unlocked an not keep paying people just to find out it is a scam.
Thanks again for your help!
I bought an iphone 4s on ebay for my son. The description said it was unlocked, which is what we need since we have t-mobile. The phone would not work despite getting a micro-sim from t-mobile and doing a restore in itunes. I emailed the seller and he said it was unlocked and that I wasn't going to be able to use it on t-mobile. I checked the IMEI number and it says it is locked. I paid unlockfusion.com to unlock it. I bought a iPhone 5 on Verizon on Thursday at 199.99. Is the phone already unlocked? I thought I read somewhere that Verizon iPhones are already unlocked out of the box.
Yes, the verizon i5 will work with any gsm sim in the world.
But as far as cdma networks it will only work on verizons.
Yeah I feel the same way. The onslaught and amount of people making serious bank doing this is going to prompt some negative attention for sure.
Who knows. I know some people making $2000/day or more on this.
Give it a try.im going to europe in May, can i call at&t and unlock my phone so i can buy a SIM in europe and use it there?
what do you need to check the unlock for an at&t iphone 5. If i use an unactivated tmobile sim will it show tmobile in the status bar if its unlocked?
