If you upgrade in a year it’ll be half of that.

How do you figure that? Your new phone at month 13 will not be free. It will most likely be at a higher rate than the first 12 months, otherwise to get off the treadmill you have to pay off months 14-24?

Hmm, I paid off my phone early this year. On the apple app it's showing I have an upgrade eligible, but it's not asking me for a credit check. IN the fine print it says a credit check may not be required

Hmm, I'm not seeing any option for that. When I'm in the app it shows my line is eligible for an upgrade. I do the checkout process all the way until the end where the continue is greyed out because it's not launch day yet. I've even tried checking out through both Apple or Verizon's payment plans.

Okay, eligible line is different than IUP.

Haha I have been trying for over 14 hours to no avail dude. I first tweeted at verizon customer support and they said it was because there were too many phones on my account that are on a monthly plan. I told them that makes no sense. Today I talked to a support rep on the verizon website and they said that no verizon customers are able to do the pre approval and that I am eligible and will have to wait until the 27th. All of this makes no sense to me since this is a loan separate from my bill with Verizon since it is handled through Apple/ Citizen one. Have you found anything out? I am considering just skipping the upgrade out of frustration/ getting the 8plus/ cancelling my verizon account altogether. Everyone around me has been able to get through the pre approval through other carriers.

I talked to Verizon. They said issue is not them and blamed CitizenOne.

I talked to CitizenOne and they blamed Apple.

I talked to Apple and they blamed a known issue that their tech team is working to fix. Said would be fixed in 1 hr. It’s been 20hrs and not fixed.

just wanted to contribute, too.

Froze credit reports at all five agencies due to the Equifax hack. Went to get the iPhone upgrade preapproval and was successful without needing to unfreeze my credit at any of the five agencies.

IN the fine print it says a credit check may not be required depending on your history with Citizens. Am I ok to preorder on the 27th? I'd hate to be held up by a credit check when these will be sold out likely in seconds.
Did Citizens close out loan since PIF or just apply payment so you have credit ticking off until 24 months. Upgrade eligible if paid off loan ?

Hmm I have no idea. I'm looking at my loan page online and it doesn't have much information. It shows a zero balance and a $0 next payment due, it almost does look like its not closed out but fully paid.

Good that says zero and letting you go thru preapproval instead of applying for new.

Mine was the same. For some reason it was the last 4 of my wife’s SS# even though I’m the primary holder. Strange.

Yah after talking to Citizen, they had the wrong SSN. Had to submit a copy of my card, but they could not gurantee the change will happen before preorders are available.

I ran into that as well, then noticed it has an option to apply again, which I did. Success.

I had this option too, but decided not to do it. Feared this could create a problem in the future. Keep us posted tho.

I received my pre-approval yesterday and today Equifax recorded the credit hit from Citizen One. Just FYI. I don't believe this hit affects my credit score but it is registered.

Does anyone know if I already paid off my iPhone from last IUP, can I do this prequalification or am I already prequalified? It seems I can’t do this process.

If you've paid off your phone, you have completed the program. You will have to apply again.

Question about the credit check process. With the whole Equifax situation I put a credit freeze on their site. I tried to unfreeze it before going through this pre-approval process but the site was down. Decided to go for pre-approval anyway and it worked fine somehow. Once that was done, I went ahead and put a freeze on the other two Experian and TransUnion. Just wondering, does pre-approval mean they have checked my credit score and approved for the loan and it won't be required on 10/27 or will they check again? Would be good for folks who got pre-approved to know if they should unfreeze their credit scores before trying to buy Fri morn. Thanks!

Any news?

Question about completing the order...

My husband and I are both in the AUP and have gotten the pre-approval through the Apple Store app, on our current respective phones.

Luckily I work nights so I will be awake to complete my order at 2:01(CST)

Due to my husbands work schedule, he will not be able to complete his order at that time. I also will not be able to have his phone.

Can I bring his iPad to my work, to complete the order for him?

I opened the app on his iPad, and it doesn’t show the pre-approved banner like the phone does. It says to return to the app on the iPhone on 10.27 to pre-order.

I would think that it shouldn’t matter which device is used as long as I’m logged into the correct account.

Does anyone know if it will be possible to complete his order on his iPad, or even the Apple website?

has to be on an iPhone.

Done! :) Come on Nov. 3rd - AT&T 256 White iPhone X will be mine! (Hopefully if I wake up at 3am and get my order in by 3:01am :D)

Not if I beat you to it ;-)

I have a question somewhat related to the IUP (but not so much the preapproval)... last year I enrolled in the IUP. Now, this year, I was preapproved without issue...

I've looked on Citizen One and I owe about $350 on my old iPhone 7 that I *intend* on turning back into them. However, I see that they are trending upwards of $575 on eBay. Never mind for a moment the argument of it being worth it to sell or not, but, for those who did it last year... what if I don't want to send my phone back? Or, rather, what if I "lost" or "broke" my iPhone 7 between pre-ordering and receiving my new one and actually had nothing to send back?

Can I still get my new iPhoneX? Worst case they just charge me the remainder of the loan ($350)? I'm just wondering what the options were say I didn't have a phone to return?

I suggest you go ahead and upgrade. Then (after you receive the new phone), tell them you no longer have the phone. The most they can do is ask you to payoff the remaining debt you owe them.

How do you figure that? Your new phone at month 13 will not be free. It will most likely be at a higher rate than the first 12 months, otherwise to get off the treadmill you have to pay off months 14-24?

With Upgrade program, you rent your phone for a year, and during that time you pay off roughly half of the price of the phone via monthly payments to Citizen.

Then, in a year, you turn it in. The current loan is closed out. And you start all over again fresh with the new loan for the new phone.

You really think your **AmaZiiNg** credit is going to be affect by a small phone loan? You must not be well versed in credit then.

Good hell... I love the internet.

No... I don't think my credit will be significantly affected by another small installment loan.

I do know that the extra time to signup for the upgrade program would have cost me getting an X on Nov 3rd. (Which I was able to successfully order last night)
Instead of doing a credit pull every year, I will just continue to buy the phone outright each time and give my parents my old one.

That was my point...

Congrats on being so "well-versed in credit." Maybe you could teach me sometime.
