Does anyone know if we can use the iPhone Upgrade Programme online? Their website states "Launching at UK Apple Stores. You can make a reservation online to buy in store"

My nearest Apple store is 3 hours away; so that's pretty useless for me :( we do however have a "Stormfront" which is fairly useless and doesn't sell iPhones.

What banks have you guys used for 0% apr credit? I guess I could just buy it outright online to get it delivered

I wish Apple offer this upgrade program around the world. I know it's not easy, especially in countries without any credit rating system, but it fits well for gadget geeks like me.

Looking at the prices to pay via the Upgrade program + a sim only deal, I'd be no better off than if I just stick with Three and upgrade with them....

Does anyone know how easy it is to be accepted after credit check? I applied for a credit card a week ago but got refused, although logging into my Experian account shows a higher than average credit score...

Do you think you would you look to keep your iPhone after the 2 year contract with Three, or would you want to upgrade again?

If upgrade again, and the cost is the same either way, would the program not be attractive so that you can upgrade each year? I suppose it depends what you do with the device at the end of your contracts...

The Apple upgrade plan seems decent but £33.45 + whatever sim only deal say £20 = more than I have ever paid monthly for an iPhone from carrier contracts.

I'll be reserving online tomorrow morning to go in and join the upgrade programme in-store on launch day.
That's what I'm planning to do - do you think once you select the phone you want it gives an option to say you're going to join the upgrade programme? I'm a bit confused about this at the mo

The only time I upgraded each year with my phones was when I had my brief flirtation with Google and the Nexus 4 & 5.

Every other phone has been an iPhone and I've had it for the two year contract.

Spoke to apple on online chat this morning and said to reserve for pick up. Going to pop into the apple store near me and check that this afternoon though.

I'm now torn again between buying £919 or upgrade program.... damn Apple I need more time to think financially!!!

I'm stuck between the Upgrade Program and buying it outright.

Planning to get the 7+ 128gb - this will be the first time getting the Plus so not sure if I'll find it too big or whatnot. Really don't want to pay £819 outright but not sure what would happen on the Upgrade program (£44.45pm) if I decided I didn't like the Plus size and wanted to return it for the regular 7 128gb. I generally upgrade my iPhone every year. Help?

It's a faff but I can be reversed so what happens is Barclays refund it to apple and reduce the payment plan to the right one. I did this when I financed the plus and changed it to the normal 6S

Normally I buy iPhones outright so it's quite simple, but the Plus is too expensive for me to do that. When you did it, was it quick to change to the normal 6s or did you have to wait a while for them to sort everything out and for supply of iPhones to allow you to get the normal 6s?

The score on these websites is fairly meaningless - each provider of credit will have their own criteria for lending. Also, the credit card you applied for might not have used Experian so you should check your report at Equifax and Callcredit as well to make sure there are no mistakes.

What credit card did you apply for? It may be that you'll get accepted for this credit despite being declined the credit card.

It was quick. I sent off my plus and as soon as apple knew it was on it's way back they sent out my new one

There is one aspect of this i still don;t understand, In order to register for the programme in the first place do i have to give them my current phone or can i sell my 6s and start from scratch. If you have to give them your current phone for the 7 then there is no way this makes sense for anyone!

Looks like buying on a 0% card would be cheaper long run. But this is a good, hassle-free way to pay monthly and upgrade every year without having to worry about selling off your older phone. You also own the iPhone you're 'renting' after 20 months if you choose not to upgrade after the 11th. So easy enough to opt out of too.

For those asking about 0% cards, I just got one from Sainsbury's Bank which is pretty good. I think around 3 years interest free and earns Nectar points. I know Halifax and M&S are offering 0% cards at the moment too.

You'd always be £49 worse off though, if you can refund the AC+ once it's paid off.

Not really worse off though as the £49 is part of your total interest free cost anyway, it's not a additional cost on top of the iPhone and AppleCare+.

No, only after 11 months of being on the upgrade plan and only if you choose to swap to the latest iPhone release. Apple Pay off your loan with Barclays when you return the iPhone 7 and then you start a new 20 month deal.

It will probably let you choose your reservation slot and say that you'll have the option of using the upgrade programme once you get to the store. You won't need to choose this online as the purpose of the online tool is purely to reserve the phone.

As it's new to the UK I'd imagine for a couple of months it'll be store only but as demand dies down it'll be available online too eventually.

If you're considering a 0% purchase credit card Money Saving Expert have a soft search tool which will give you an indication of which product(s) you'll qualify for.

Whilst it's subject to acceptance (and you'd have to carry out of hard search to know fully) it is quite useful.

I will say Barclays Partner Finance are pretty good; have used them twice and been accepted twice.

Might also be worth checking out your bank as they'll have a fair amount of knowledge about how you conduct your account etc.

As mentioned above the credit score quoted by Experian, Equifax and Call Credit is fairly meaningless.

Each credit provider uses their own methods in scoring.

Callcredit offer Noddle and Clearscore use Equifax and both are free. Might be worth checking them out to make sure everything is correct and up to date?

Things like income to debt ratio, the amount of credit searches in the last six months and even only ever having one to no credit cards etc can also play a part in being declined.

My credit history has been less than "perfect" in the past but have been successful twice with Barclays Partner Finance.

Hope that helps?
