I don’t understand why Apple has so much trouble with the mail app. Like it usually takes more than a minute to update the inbox. It’s so slow. The mail app in iOS 6-5 used to be flawless. What happened? It’s a simple email client ffs

This happened to me this morning. Latest iOS on iPhone 11. Finally got it to load, but was just a white screen followed by a crash.

Apple Mail app has been horribly inconsistent for me over the years and man, I feel like it’s gotten worse over the past year. It’s incredibly frustrating.

Funny thing… it started happening hardcore today. I’ve been on the latest beta since it was released.

I would like to see my previously downloaded mail when it’s fetching new mail please.

Everyone can relax, because I can report that the Apple Support SOP is here to save the day:

1. Restart you device.
2. Force reboot your device.
3. Reset Network Settings.
4. Reset All Settings.
5. Erase and Set Up as New
6. Collect screen recordings and logs for an RTA to Engineering by a Senior Advisor
7. Senior Advisor submits RTA to Engineering.
8. Within 48 hr, receive a response that Engineering is aware of the issue, keep your device up to date, and no further troubleshooting will be provided.
WOW. The most comprehensive "fix it" post I've ever seen. Thanks so much.

Happening for the last two days on my freshly restored iPhone 13. Glad it’s not a local hardware issue. Thanks to Macrumors for reporting it to Apple as well.

Noticed a lot of "maild" (guessing mail daemon) logs in Analytics Data for the past two days with bug type "309", anyone else?

I have not used Apple's Mail program on any platform in decades. I do use their mail servers. Mail has had issues so long that I do not remember when I started with third party email.

Currently use Spark for more years than I can count. It works just fine on my iPhone 16 Pro Max, my iPad mini and iPad M4, as well as my M1 Ultra Mac Studio, two M4 Pro mini, M4 MacBook Air and M4 Max 16" MacBook Pro. All devices have the maximum memory and or storage available at time of purchase.

Just wondering if just the minimum memory devices are having these issues or is it across the memory capacity spectrum?

I had this issue with multiple 18.x betas. To resolve it, I had to reset my phone, set it up as a new device, exit the beta track, and install the 18.5 non-beta version. I’m not sure what caused the issue to be resolved after all these steps.

It has happened to me twice so far on my 13 Pro. First time I had to restart. Second time it fixed itself.

If the Mail app on your iPhone is not working lately, you are not alone.

General-iOS-Mail-Feature.jpg

A growing number of iPhone users are seeing a blank screen in the Mail app, according to comments posted across the MacRumors Forums, Reddit, Apple Support Community, and other online discussion platforms. Affected users are unable to view any emails in their inboxes, and the app can also become glitchy and unresponsive.

The issue does not appear to be tied to any specific iPhone model, and the underlying cause is unknown. Most if not all affected users said their iPhones were running iOS 18.5, but it is unclear why online discussion about this issue only started to gain traction within the past few days, given that the update was released more than three weeks ago.

Affected users said restarting their iPhones temporarily solves the issue, but a permanent solution has yet to be identified. MacRumors has emailed Apple about the matter, and we will update this story if and when the company responds to the inquiry.

The issue is not reflected on Apple's system status page as of writing.

Thanks, Steve Ryan!

I can't even remember when i stopped Apple's default email app both on my mac and my iphone. That app is very "unApple" compared to other default apps. Its slow to load emails, dark mode is not fully implemented in the app, generally it's a bad app. I use outlook on both my mac and iPhone. is way better

Me too, restart had no effect, forced restart seems to have fixed it.
What I don’t get is why we all got hit today, it’s not as if we all updated today.
