Has not happened for me in Mail so far (18.5). But, strangely, i have been getting blank (black) screens in iMessages on my XS since iOS 17 about 3-5 times a week.

Not happening to me but location is constant being prompted … this is getting old

I've had issues with the Mail app since iOS18 came on the scene. Push stopped working and now rely on Fetch every 15 mins. Half my folders aren't there like on other devices.

@everyone: swipe up to app switcher, and select mail again right away worked for me. Not great, but less than a reboot.

me too.

Mine is fixed after completely deleting and reinstalling the Mail app. I’m not sure how long it will stay fixed.

The same has been happening to me the last couple of days.

I find if I force quit Mail, open it then leave it a few minutes, it starts working again.

System restart is the only temporary fix.
Have done this at least once a day since Monday.

Same here, this sometimes works for me, other times I have had to reboot. Started earlier this week, well after installing the last iOS update.

For me Apple fixed this around 4:00PM PDT yesterday (Thursday). They must have pushed the fix through their security deployment mechanism.

If the Mail app on your iPhone is not working lately, you are not alone.

General-iOS-Mail-Feature.jpg

A growing number of iPhone users are seeing a blank screen in the Mail app, according to comments posted across the MacRumors Forums, Reddit, Apple Support Community, and other online discussion platforms. Affected users are unable to view any emails in their inboxes, and the app can also become glitchy and unresponsive.

The issue does not appear to be tied to any specific iPhone model, and the underlying cause is unknown. Most if not all affected users said their iPhones were running iOS 18.5, but it is unclear why online discussion about this issue only started to gain traction within the past few days, given that the update was released more than three weeks ago.

Affected users said restarting their iPhones temporarily solves the issue, but a permanent solution has yet to be identified. MacRumors has emailed Apple about the matter, and we will update this story if and when the company responds to the inquiry.

The issue is not reflected on Apple's system status page as of writing.

Thanks, Steve Ryan!

After battling with this issue for two days now, rebooting, etc., I found that, so far, if I don’t close the app on my phone, it stays working. Fingers crossed!

Fixed for all, or just you? How? Mine is still coming up blank today. Started not closing the app, and that’s working for now.

When it happened, it didn't help. Of course, I killed the app and restart it, multiple times to no avail. Mail would be hung at a white screen.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, rebooting "fixed" it. I've not seen it again on my iOS 18.5 iPhone SE 3.
