Good to know it isn't just me! Restarting app didn't work. Phone reboot solves but only for a short time and then mails take longer and longer to appear. I switched off categories as I don't trust AI not to bury important emails.

+1 from me. This morning, the Mail app hung when trying to render a message. A kill and restart of the Mail app resulted it in being hung with a white screen. Rest of my phone was fine.

I gave up and rebooted my phone and that "fixed" it. This was all before I even saw this post.

I'm on 18.5 on iPhone SE 3. Mail app has never done this I can recall on 18.5 nor any other version of iOS I can remember recently, possible even at all.

I have my Mall app connected to several Gmail accounts and no other mail providers.

Same, for me it started Monday afternoon 6/2 in California. All fixes are temporary as already mentioned. This must have been a bad security fix/push from Apple as it didn't start right after an upgrade. I think I did restart my iPhone earlier on Monday though.

+1 here. Restarting the app makes it worse (empty screen, not even an empty table view). Restarting the phone helps temporarily. It’s pretty unusable right now.

It's been happening on my iPhone for quite some time, beta and non-beta. Drove me off Mail to Spark for now.

I’ve had this issue since going to iOS 18 last year on my iPhone 13 Pro Max. Happens routinely and not just with Mail. Health and Messages apps have also caused the screen to go blank (not even time/battery/signal images display) when accessing them or hang up endlessly until I reboot. Seems like some rogue background process, perhaps indexing?
Something is off with your 13 Pro Max dude, I have exactly the same phone & have had zero issues with it.

I noticed this yesterday on my iPhone 13 Pro and rebooted it. That seemed to fix the issue but it’s happening again today.

If the Mail app on your iPhone is not working lately, you are not alone.

General-iOS-Mail-Feature.jpg

A growing number of iPhone users are seeing a blank screen in the Mail app, according to comments posted across the MacRumors Forums, Reddit, Apple Support Community, and other online discussion platforms. Affected users are unable to view any emails in their inboxes, and the app can also become glitchy and unresponsive.

The issue does not appear to be tied to any specific iPhone model, and the underlying cause is unknown. Most if not all affected users said their iPhones were running iOS 18.5, but it is unclear why online discussion about this issue only started to gain traction within the past few days, given that the update was released more than three weeks ago.

Affected users said restarting their iPhones temporarily solves the issue, but a permanent solution has yet to be identified. MacRumors has emailed Apple about the matter, and we will update this story if and when the company responds to the inquiry.

The issue is not reflected on Apple's system status page as of writing.

Thanks, Steve Ryan!

Yep, wife’s iPhone 15 pro max had this a couple of days ago. Restart the phone to fix.

When it happened to me this morning, I nuked it and the Gmail app and went with em Client's iPhone app. I have switched from using folders/labels for the most part and am using smart mailboxes in MailMate. Phone is for light triaging only.

eM Client's app on the phone has an interesting feature: if you go into the settings for an email account, and you press "IMAP settings" within, there is a setting for "ignored folders". That way I could ignore the "Notes" folder in a Fastmail account, or now the "Outbox" in an iCloud account. You could use it to ignore the "Conversation History" folder in a Microsoft account, too.

When is Tim Cook going to answer for this nonstop stream of issues out of the software department? There’s always going to be an issue or two here and there but this is ridiculous
Maybe Cook doesn't consider himself to be so much in the "software supply chain" at Apple.

I have two SE3’s, one is a mirror of the other, I set it up for beta testing.
One on public release iOS18.5 had this failure, the mirror one with RC iOS18.5 didn’t.
Proves absolutely nothing of course 😜

Same here with my wife’s phone. Had to restart twice so far. Started yesterday. My phone and iPad have been fine.
