Well, as long as it's not something third party. This F1 movie is also tied to Apple (tv+).What if they start doing it more?
(that's what happens once it starts and is normalized and tolerated)
Was everyone upset when Apple promoted a free 3 months of Apple TV in their wallet app?

I worshipped U2 from 1983 'til about 2001. They had an incredible run. Best live band on the planet back then. But that free album and almost everything they've released since has been objectively, embarrassingly, god awful. Broke my heart.Hey that was a good album, as long as you like U2 lol. 😂
I hope you have a hacksaw. Titanium is pretty hard.Deleted Wallet from my iPhone. Sent feedback email to Apple concerning their foolish decision. Will cut up Apple Card in a few minutes. I absolutely will not have my bank, or any corporation, push ads to me via a financial tool or instrument. It simply will not be permitted.
I can see why some people were upsetting, hopefully Apple took this as a form of feedback. I meant they took down a few promotional videos on YouTube due to backlash.Yes, actually.
I'm don't care for them hawking that or trying to endlessly get me to "try Apple Music" again.
Doesn't matter to me if it's first party or third party.
It's disrespectful to your users to pump them with ADs for your own stuff too.
Already am. I’ve been buying their products used since the quality started to obviously declineAct with your wallet
exactly.

Take a deep breath and relax your world is not ending.
exactly.
The simple fact they're making a toggle for this option clearly shows they expect that there will be more in the future.
While most people on here will argue "it's 10 seconds to switch it off permanently", they forget there's a lot of people out there who don't know how to dig through the settings and menus, and just use the phone out of the box. They're going to be hit with those until a grandchild (or parent) helps them turn it off.
I just read an article that said they made about $40 million just selling ad space on the jumpsuits and cars and so forth in this movie. If I ever watch the movie, I'm going to be distracted wondering which close-up shots are just to fulfill contractual obligations.
I totally get where you're coming from. I've learned to relax more in my old age. Apple Inc today certainly isn't the Apple Computer Inc I started with. But that was with an Apple //e. I was upset when they dropped support for the II line but time marches on. This is just another thing they're doing. I just bought a Mac Mini M4 and couldn't be happier. Except for the stupid placement of the switch on the bottom. Apple can play around with "Media" as long as they keep making great hardware.God this is sad ...
Who knows what direction the company might have gone had Steve not passed I guess, but it's hard to imagine it'd be in this particular place.
Devolved to hawking services, rent seeking and doing product placements in shows ... like a brand of toothpaste.
Pathetic.
I'm so tapped out on Tim Cook Apple.

This is ridiculous. First of all, if you're gonna call people out for complaining about "first world problems" while using Apple devices that were made in third world countries where you're implying they actually have things to complain about -- including worker abuse that Apple is complicit in, that's hypocriticalIt’s first world problems, borderline entitlement! As you said, it’s not the end of the world. Blown way out of proportion.
If you care, Apple may recycle it for you with a prepaid mailer. That's what they do with card updates.True...but metaphorically speaking, it is getting cut in half.![]()

The opt out button in the ios26 beta literally says "and partners" so yeah i'd expect to see ads and offers from their "partners" in the future.
Not to mention that "and partners" is pretty loose. Who's a partner? Google? OpenAI? Apple have partnerships with those companies. Or maybe just anyone willing to stump the money to advertise. The "and partners" is missed by a lot of people, I suspect that most people do not read the "terms". I often see where the First party is assuring privacy and protection, but in a later statement indicates they will share data with a third party. Then in a later statement, they will mention they can not guarantee what that Third party does with the data. Essentially, the First part to the terms, the company that is offering the service is offering no protection or privacy.
I'd be interested to find out if "Partnership" is something official, which would have to be declared, or just whoever Apple is working with this week. All in all it's not intrusive to me yet. If Apple can stop 95% of spam I'll take the rest. Not to mention that "and partners" is pretty loose. Who's a partner? Google? OpenAI? Apple have partnerships with those companies.
