iphone version 2 prototype, black and 3G...

So, now that they sell the back cover with all the hardware attached, leaving you very little work to do, as well as a lower price, does it sting a bit? ;)

I only see the silver cover with the hardware attached. I suppose it's only a mattter of time before they come out with the black one as well, unless they already did and sold out of it. :(:apple:
 
Roadblock

So I ordered the black back for the iphone and some plastic case openers. I've watched the disassembly video, but cannot for the life of me get plastic cover on the back of my iphone to budge...

Any suggestions?

I couldn't get it to budge either. I'm sure the right case opener would do it, but the one I got was shabby and it wore down without even getting the case to budge a bit. I eventually gave up.

If anyone wants one of these black covers (they are now sold out) I'll be glad to sell it to you for exactly the same as CNN, but with free shipping. I just decided I don't want to mess with it. Let me know by PM.

I wasn't able to remove the plastic antenna cover by imitating the method on the PDAparts video, using the green plastic case opener... but eventually I tried prying it up at the bottom of the iPhone, by the speaker/microphone. I was then able to slide it down and off.

Though I would add that if you use the adhesive remover, don't get it anywhere near the plastic volume and silent/ring switches, it will destroy them! I now have a little hole where my silent/ring switch used to be.

And I would emphasize that the aluminum rails are really fragile... I guarantee the left one will break at the corner near the silent/ring switch when you remove it.
