Sure is, like I said nothing has changed with sambloat.
Except it shows nothing at all like a dumpster fire, LFC2020 is just repeating tropes again....

Oh look, the 12 pro max has a terrible battery life according to this from Apple.com, 126 pages of people complaining about battery life....

See how that works? do you agree the battery life is bad on the 12 pro max?

How's the screen been? Raised black issues?

How the stuttering when you close apps?

You see how this works?

Seriously, a screen shot from reddit is useless, is this Australia? Is this current?

Shall I post a screengrab of a 12 pro max reddit complaints thread too and would you accept that as proof of some form of issue?

And so on....it just works.....

I know deep down even you know that Samsung doesn’t even come close to being
as good as apple when it comes to software and having a great smartphone experience.

No shame in admiring it. 🤷‍♂️

People say that Samsung has gotten better, unfortunately that isn’t true, they still have a long way to go.

With the specs they put in their smartphones they should be leading the industry by a mile, yet it’s still the same old Samsung, bloat software, camera issues, shutter lag, heat issues, battery drain.

Doesn’t sound like they’ve improved at all. 🤷‍♂️

Guess that is why none of their flagships were in the top ten for most sold phones.

A picture from Q1 2020 with no link and no further details stating whether this is regional, by country or worldwide, is really what you'd consider to be resting your case?

Really? Are you that basic?

Maybe I've given you more credit than you deserve.

You never answer questions and keep moving goalposts.

Last time I visited this thread it was quite civil and most were agreeing on different taste when it comes to OS.

Isn’t it safe to say whether you own an iPhone or an Android phone, you can essentially achieve the same fundamental tasks? All it comes down to is how you like to view this data on your phone and some love Android and some love iPhone. I don’t see the point anymore swiping digs back and forth over which is better because this is purely decided by an individuals personal taste anyway.

I'm not saying one is better or worse, I'm just sick of the tropes being repeated again and again.

I know I should use the feature I'm not allowed to mention, but there's a point where you have to call someone out for being, well, full of faeces.

I'll stop now....

None of those screen or battery issues on my 2 week old 12 pro max. I wouldn’t buy a Samsung phone ever again as i don’t like their service. If you want to charge like Apple now offer the same level. The end.

i don’t understand the use of always on display if all you need to do is “tap to wake” what takes more battery ? the display pixels or the sensor waiting for the single tap. the people wanting, always on and 120 hz, are also going to get a smaller battery.. it’s almost guaranteed at the point.. and them same people are going to complain about battery life.
AOD is 1 thing i dont need on an iPhone . On an Android yes but i dont see a use for it on iPhones... and 120Hz is a gimmick on mobile devices. But 120Hz is useful for computer screens.

To be honest I also wonder what is the hype about 120HZ. I have trouble noticing it on my iPad Pro I can't imagine how I will notice it in such small screen. The only case where I assume it might make sense is gaming. I do not game so obviously for me this does not matter, but maybe for some high intense game there is some smoothness than comes with the 120HZ?

On the AOD I also don't need that much just because long time I realized that I do not want to use my phone to tell me what hour it is. I have watch or smart band for that. And in general I do not want to be interrupted as sometimes I tend to focus and achieve flow rather easily. This is why my phone is never connected to mobile data/WIFI by default. I do not want to receive notifications and to hear alerts all the time. So for this reason AOD basically is not a deal breaker for me.

Spot on 100%
Im always prepared to debate with people who say they need smoother scrolling and crap. Always ready ;) And not to forget the 120Hz slaughtering battery life like butter. Then they will defend themselves by saying they are always close to a charger. And the next them complaining about warm devices. Lmao. I can go on and on.

Games on mobile is still trash if you ask me. And 120Hz on mobile phones is just a joke. A marketing gimmick. UNLESS i am able to use the 120Hz feature and mirror it to an external screen then its a different story. Most mobile games are Pay to win, unless its like PUBG or Mobile Legends. The rest depends on money. I have been through the stage where i spent thousands of dollars just to be No.1 in a certain game. And in the end the game closes down. Different from console games, they last way longer and have better response.

and yes AOD on iPhone is useless because all we need to do is tap the screen and it shows us everything. Dont forget burn in too...

Always on display isn’t a deal breaker but it’s nice to have. To be able to see if I have any notifications at the glance of the screen without having to pick it up. Also being able to display images on the screen all the time is a nice touch, also music controls that stay on the AOD all the time. You don’t need to life up the phone. It’s just there and ready to go.

I will reserve judgement on 120HZ until I use a phone with a 120HZ display. I have it on my iPad Pro 11 and had it on my 10.5 pro before that. To be honest I cant really tell a difference between that and my iPhone 12 Pro max or my iPad mini 5. However maybe when I’ve actually used it on a phone it will be one of those quality of life improvements.

Could be :). I do not game so I don't factor in factors related to gaming that much. Not my cup of tea.

Well I have deactivated this because it gets triggered (it is the way I hold my phone when I walk for example) when I do not want to see what is on my screen. So I basically just use the side button to wake my phone.

Yeah for normal people I see what you mean about the notifications. I exclude myself from the group of normal people because for me those notifications can distract me so I tend to not want to see them. About the music I see what you mean.

To be fair I have not tried it on a phone either. I have tried on my iPP 11 inch and I compare it to my 6th gen iPad. I do not see difference. It must be something subtle but I really do not see it.

I gave my 2018 11” pro to my wife and used a air 3 I got cheap for a month, big difference without 120hz, couldn’t wait to flog that thing off and get another 2018 11” pro.
Doubt would be as noticeable on a phone though.

I do appreciate Android, my HTC One M8 is one of the best phones i have owned (Still have it in my drawer), and my Missus S20 Plus has great hardware. The issue i have, especially with Samsung phones, is the amount of bloatware out of the box. They duplicate all the Google apps with their own Samsung apps, which just wastes storage and system resources, and can confuse a non techy user. Also over time, Samsung phones tend to get bogged down. Also releasing Galaxy phones with the superior Snapdragon chips in some countries, and then other countries with the inferior Exynos chip (Like the UK and Australia), but claiming them to be the same phone is borderline illegal in my book.

If your gonna get an Android phone, try and stick to Stock Android where possible like Pixel or One Plus (close to stock) phones in my opinion.

I was definitely one of those people that didn't care about 120hz and swore up and down that iPhones did not need it... until I bought a phone with 120hz. It is really hard to go back to using 60hz or at least you'll notice a big difference when you do. It feels like scrolling is just so slow and it's crazy that I'm able to notice it so much more now that I've actually tried it. I really think people are going to enjoy it once the iPhone 13 has it, and Apple does have the option to turn it off on the iPad Pro so you should be able to turn it off the iPhone as well if you don't care for it.

I find it more noticeable on a smaller screen. I bought the Galaxy Tab S7 Plus to try it out (has been returned) and I just didn't care for it. There was a Reddit post that I remember reading that most people notice it on smaller screens.

I am amazed at people who can achieve platform ambidexterity. For me, it seems pretty impossible.

My bias against Android stems from my many misadventures of earlier years, where the lure of a bigger screen was an immense attraction.
The range of devices I bought and used, while not exhaustive, was quite extensive, HTC Sensation, Galaxy note 2 and 3, Asus transformer(with extended tablet and laptop mode), and a Redmi Note.
Each time, I would psych myself into believing the reports about how much Android has improved and that I could finally live with an android device. Unfortunately, each attempt left me feeling more jaded.

In recent years, it has become increasingly difficult to leave the iPhone because of how each additional piece of Apple product makes the whole experience of being in Apple's ecosystem that much better. So much so, personally, when I think of a new piece of hardware, it is more often than not weighed against the seamless and sometimes overly comfortable experience that I am currently enjoying because of this ecosystem.

I am aware of how unfair this is, yet it is what it is.

"Experience" has been Apple's go-to jargon for years, often overemphasized and mostly overlooked. It's not something you can measure in terms of units but so noticeable when it is missing. It is that moment where everything clicks.

It's picking up a call on my iPad.
It's unlocking my Mac with my Apple watch.
It's starting a project on my iPad and finishing it off on my iPhone.
It's editing a video I just shot on my iPhone with my Mac without having to attach some cable to transfer the video over first.
It's switching seamlessly from one Apple device to another on my Airpods.
It's the freedom of dropping everything and going for a run with just my Apple watch and still be connected to the entire ecosystem.

Even having said all that, it's still hard to imagine without having firsthand experience.

Occasionally I do get tempted by Android devices( e.g. Galaxy Fold 2). Yet because I am so entrenched in the many minor conveniences bought by being a participant in Apple's ecosystem, the idea of fragmenting it with a piece of non-Apple hardware is quite daunting.

At this moment, to my knowledge, there is no other system apart from Apple's that offers such seamless computing integration that is palpable in my daily life. To venture outside said ecosystem at the expense of tangible convenience for the expressed benefit of perceived freedom seems unnecessarily wasteful. So I am as always a happy iSheep kept in the confines of Apple's walled garden.

I have to admit. I’ve found the battery life on my 12 Pro Max very good. I have the Samsung Note 10+ as well.

The claims that the iPhone battery ‘destroys’ anything else is, is such an odd statement. Compared to the Note 10 which is an older phone, yes, the iPhone 12 is very good, but it doesn’t destroy it, the iPhone lasts a few hours longer.

There is definitely one on here who can’t see the wood for the trees and, defends the iPhone like their life depended on it. It’s just a phone. Maybe go out and try something different. I did, and now have the iPhone 12 Pro Max for the moment, which I’m really liking. I even discovered a scanning feature embedded within Notes the other day which is superb.

AOD though, missing that. I really utilised that. Just glancing over for the time was great, but you could see notifications, appointments etc. Hopefully Apple will do a good job implementing this feature.

Ah sucks that you went through this. At least you know Android is not for you :).

This is true and I see how it is pro for a lot of people but for me it is a con because Apple devices work and provide a lot of value only if you have other Apple devices. And problem for me is that I do not find (for myself) all of those devices valuable enough for their price. For example up to M1 I found all Macbooks grossly overpriced for what they offer in terms of hardware and the MacOS restrictions. I like the idea of Apple watch but for this price I expect battery life of at least 3 days. I do not like regular Airpods design and in terms of AirPods Pro they are expensive for the amount of time I would use them. In general earbuds lead to earpain using for long so I would not use them enough to justify the price. AirPods Pro Max are way too expensive for what I want to us them.

So because of that I have Windows computer, MiFit smart band, Shure Bluetooth earbuds and Sony overhead NC headset. Now this is where things get muddy because Android phones play nicer with Windows than iPhones, MiFit smart band plays nicer with Android phones and Sony NC headset plays nicer with Android phones because of NFC and LDAC support.

So basically now the idea that the iPhone can connect to other Apple devices does not bring value for me. It seems that I have to pay not just 1000 + $ for the phones but 5 that for the experience that I can get with Android phones for cheaper. This is why I just accept the iPhone for what it is (without the Apple ecosystem stuff) and this is where the difference between Android and iPhone gets smaller and more subtle.

However for people like you the difference is huge and I understand where you are coming from and what you mean. Enjoy the ecosystem and the seamless integration because it sure is a nice plus (if you have the devices and are willing to pay for them).

I understand what you are saying, apart from the ecosystem the difference gets smaller and more subtle. Thank you for taking the time to read and reply, really appreciated your honest and candid response. 😃

You are welcome! I enjoyed reading your post!

Things might in the future for me. I bought my first ever Apple device in 2018. It was the 6th gen iPad. I wanted tablet with pencil support and for that Apple offered the best. Back then IMO the first pencil was a bit of compromise so I was not willing to pay for the iPad Pro. Last year I bought the 2018 iPP because at that point the second pencil was around and for that I was willing to pay. So for me things might change in the future but I have some specific expectations and until I see them I am not willing to pay the price. For example when it comes to laptops I care about connectivity a lot (in terms of ports). And when it comes to the smart watches I care about the battery life. Plus in my country the cool features like ECG are not even supported so it does not motivate me a lot to pay the price :D.
