I owned a Samsung Focus for three weeks when I decided to switch from my iPhone 3G (ack what a pain the 3G is nowadays, eh?) to Windows Phone 7. Here's why: I love Zune much more than iTunes especially on Windows 7, I needed a change, and I liked a lot of what Microsoft was doing with WP7.
Here's my review that I won't get into much here: http://zunited.net/2010/11/zunited-reviews-windows-phone-7-operating-system/

Unfortunately, I had to return the phone and get the iPhone 4. I love a lot of things about WP7 -- Facebook integration, dedicated camera button, look and feel, the photos hub, the Music + Videos hub, I could go on and on. But I couldn't type on the phone. After 2.5 years I guess I got used to the iOS keyboard (also some thought maybe it was a Focus hardware issue since other people reported the same thing). I will say that the Focus's screen is absolutely beautiful to look at; the iPhone's is beautiful for entirely different reasons.

Anyway, getting back on track. I chose the iPhone because WP7 just isn't polished yet nor quite stable. There's a little bit of growing up to do with apps and the operating system itself. In a couple of years when I'm eligible for an upgrade again I'll most definitely consider a WP7 device.

IPhone 4 with iOS / Win 7Smartphones
Processor: Apple A4 Chip (1GHz) / 1GHz and up
RAM: 512MB / 512MB
Internal Storage: 16GB or 32GB / 8GB-16GB
Camera & Video: 5MP with 720p recording / 5MP-8MP with 720p recording

I have tried every smart phone, whether it was a friends or at a store. And my conclusion is every company tries to copy apple, while giving their own spin in hopes that the masses will switch. The other thing I find interesting is that the majority of android or WP7 owners that I know, own either an iPod touch or a iPad. The iPhone is so popular because as outdated as it is, it is very easy to use, easy to set up, and very reliable. I had my 1st gen iPhone for three years, lasting 2 years longer then any previous phone and even though I got an iPhone 4 my original still works like the day I got it.

If you want an iOS run toy just save your money and get the iPhone rather then buying a different phone AND a iPad or iPod touch

Both phones have their tradeoffs.
Try to use them both even for a bit and decide which fits you're needs more

Yeah, they copied it so much...

Coming from using both phones the biggest detractions from using any windows phone 7 device this year would be the battery life, glitches, and the Internet browsing.

things that I feel uncomfortable with the WP7 are the keyboard and the Internet Browser (aka IE). About the keyboard, it's somehow different from the way you type compare to iOS's Keyboard. And IE sucks so hard that I hardly can find any worse internet browser than that :(

About the OS itself, WP7 makes me feel like I'm using my iPhone about 2 years ago. in Overall, WP7 is not good enough for those who want to switch from iPhone to any WP7 phone in my opinion. If you fed up with your iPhone, Android is a better option :)

in addition the windows phone has an really ugly UI;)
That's entirely subjective. I prefer it to the boring 4x4 grid crap that iOS has had from day one.

Internet browsing indeed needs work and yes there are some glitches. It's version 1.0 after all. But the battery life? Probably twice as good as any iPhone I've owned before. At the end of the day, with mail being updated with push, with a constant connection to Xbox Live, with auto-updating Live Tiles, with Google Calendar, with Facebook updates via People tab, with Bluetooth turned on as well as WiFi and 3G, I still have 80% battery left. My iPhone, which can't do half of these things automatically, but with mail updating and bluetooth turned on, would end the day with 50%.

That's for a Samsung Focus, anyway..don't know about the HD7 or whatever.

This long battery life fantasy was not my experience. The battery life on the HTC Surround Windows 7 Phone that I tried for a week was terrible compared to the iPhone 4. I was looking for a charger all day!

HTC batteries are ALWAYS garbage. I wouldn't blame that on Windows.
