It seems to me that the only view you are prepared to countenance is one view through iSpectacles - hardly balanced is it?
You asked for reasons people like iOS. You got them. You dismissed them. You dismissed the concerns over security as being invalid. Sounds like you're the one who refuses to see an alternative viewpoint other than your own?
Why exactly did you post this thread here, if you are not interested in acknowledging any of the responses you get from people who do actually have reasons they dislike Android? That's pretty much the textbook definition of trolling...
I know many of you have said you prefer or think that iMessage is much better than its Android equivalent. I have to say that for me personally iMessage drives me to distraction. Now it could be me that isn't used to iMessage and so I am missing a trick here. However, with Android once you press 'send' the keyboard then dissolves but reappears the instant you put the cursor in the text box.
That sounds like really annoying behaviour to me. Frequently with iMessage, being a live-chat system, i will want to send multiple messages in a short period of time. Having the keyboard disappear would be supremely annoying in that situation. If i want to get rid of the keyboard it swipes out the way.
As to SamsungPay and friends - they do not do the same thing as ApplePay, and mag-stripe is dying because it is not secure.
And with regards to just buying a Nexus for security updates - in the market i live in, Australia, they basically do not exist.

I don't really understand what you are saying. Surely you choose a phone, whether that is from Apple or another manufacturer and that's it for a couple of years. We've already established in this thread there's now virtually nothing to choose between the operating systems. Given flagship phones from either camp are similarly matched price wise why should it be any more costly choosing one over the other?
"Virtually nothing to choose from" between the operating systems unless you care about security updates, integration with the Mac, and the differences in the underlying security architecture.
Look. I get it. Maybe YOU don't care about those differences. But they do exist, and plenty of other people do care abut them enough to make those things deal breakers with android, for those people. I'd rather buy a Microsoft phone than Android, personally - because I have more confidence in Microsoft's security implementation than Android's.
Me?
I've used several android phones (I will occasionally get an eval unit for a week to see if i want to change, have done since 2009). My phones are work supplied and effectively free. I can pick whichever handset I want, cost to me is not a factor. I currently run iPhones, because i have tried offerings from HTC and Samsung, and dislike the android UI in general.
Where you see customisation, i see un-necessary complexity (can i customise my phone? sure. it's a waste of time i could spend doing something more interesting/productive. give me "works out of the box").
Where you see rooting, i see insecurity.
Where you see application side loading, i see vectors for malware.
Where you see mag-stripe emulating payment systems, i see a dead on arrival payment system based on outdated, insecure technology as a "me too!" gasp for relevance.
Different opinions. You asked for opinions. Top tip: opinions can not be wrong.

To be fair, that same article has been written many many times regarding both iOS and OS X. It's a reliable click getter.
All that article says is that apple is a more attractive target. Due to market share.
There's still no significant quantity of malware in the wild compared to any of the other platforms including android which has the worst security record of any mobile phone OS in history.
