Ahhhhh....thanks. I have never used it, always did AT&T next through Apple.com. I wonder if you can"pre-apply" for IUP and have it set. Or, if I buy the phone outright, then return it in-store and re-buy it with IUP....

All U.S. iPhones are unlocked, carrier or not

Just remember this simple rule:

T-mobile/AT&T iPhone can work on T-mobile/AT&T interchangeably, but can NOT work on Verizon/Sprint

Verizon/Sprint iPhone can work on any
If it's bought under any installment/lease plans, it's locked until it's been paid off. I can confirm it as somebody who has just paid off an iPhone 6S Plus on T-Mobile. The phone was locked: I tried an AT&T sim-card and it didn't work. They issue an unlock automatically when your balance is paid off. You need to restore the phone to unlock it.

My friend is on a Verizon installment plan, his iPhone works just fine with my T-mobile SIM. Care to explain?

That's probably only true for Verizon phones. T-Mobile phones are not unlocked if they are not paid off. I assume the same goes for AT&T as well.

If ordering thru Apple store online do u require to have a Verizon account to order a Verizon iPhone? Some say yes some say no. I’m in the similar boat as OP, I want to order a VZ model but I’d settle for T-Mobile gsm unlocked version if they require me to have a VZ account.

It is required to provide your account info: you type in your number and last 4 digits of of the account holder's SSN.

Verizon phones are unlocked (domestically at least) because it is a condition of their LTE license(s).

I believe the account info thing only apply when u order online. If u go in store and pay in full they don’t require account info.

Yup when you order from the Apple Store it does ask for your Verizon details. You can try right now to order an iPhone 8 and you will see what happens. You must provide your account details. Just order the T-Mobile gsm unlocked. That’s what I’m doing.

I have a 7+ in the Apple IUP with T-mobile as my carrier and want to get the iPhone X as early as I can. I've heard that it might be difficult or impossible to pre-order online if T-mobile is your carrier. Can anybody confirm whether current IUP members can pre-order on T-mobile?

only at the Apple Store

hey guys, I get the newest iPhone every year and I literally can not wait till the iPhone X. Of course, I am going to stay up and Pre-order it, I usually get lucky every year and receive my iPhone within a week or two. However, I feel like this will be the hardest one yet. I’m scared that tmobile is not ready for all this chaos, I feel like it’s going to be huge.

Should I just do it with the Apple store app or just phone call tmobile?

Since you’re already a part of of the iUP, you should be able to order via the app.

Somehow I just chatted and they said that they have no JOD information yet, not even if it will be offered on JOD and the don't expect to have that information until Friday!!!!

The exact same thing I have heard too
[doublepost=1508790117][/doublepost]So i called tmobile like 5 times and apparently they all seem to be working together at my location. I had three ladies picked up from San Antonio(which is where I am from) and they were kind rude. One of the ladies was able to give me information about the down payment and when I called again a different lady picked up telling me that she doesnt have any information about the down payment or anything. Which is stupid because she said "I realized you just called one of my coworkers and she's actually one next to me." What made me more upset was I told her "So you're telling me that you cant provide me a down payment price but your coworker next to you told me what it was." I thought that was crazy how this company don't know s***.

Everyone I spoke to told me expect it to be the same down payment as the EIPs. It’s a ripoff. You’re better off just buying it outright unless you intend to keep the Phone more than a year.

Where are you getting your information that all U.S. iPhones are unlocked? A few years back I had an iPhone 6 and I wanted to switch over to t-mobile. The t-mobile rep put a t-mobile sim and the phone said something like "Unsupported SIM". I had to get the phone unlocked and then I was able to use it with T-Mobile.

When the iPhone 6 came out in 2014 most people still bought them on 2 year subsidy contracts, so of course they were locked.

How hard is it to read FAQ on Apple's website?

Nearly all iPhone models sold on apple.com are “unlocked” — which means your iPhone isn’t tied to a single carrier. Your iPhone will only be tied to your carrier if you choose carrier financing from AT&T or Sprint.

Equipment Installment Plan

  • 64GB: $279.99 down, $30 per month (FRP: $999.99)
  • 256GB: $429.99 down, $30 per month (FRP: $1,149.99)
JUMP! On Demand

  • 64GB: $0 down, $41.56 per month (FRP: $999.99)
  • 256GB: $429.99 down, $24 per month (FRP: $1,149.99)
T-Mobile will be running a trade-in deal for the iPhone X just like the one it's been offering for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. If you trade in an iPhone 6 or newer (with the exception of the iPhone SE) and buy an iPhone X on EIP, you can get up to $300 off your new device.
