Yesterday I've put my iPhone X in an charginglocker at school. After 2 hours I came back to the locker and I saw the charging cable was not working properly. It was like the iPhone didn't charge, it constantly went from charging to not charging (like you plug in your cable, and then unplugged it constantly). So it drained my battery a lot. I was wondering if this is damaging for my iPhone battery because today i noticed after minimal use (3 hour usage and 8 hours stand-by) the battery level dropped tot 50%. Anyone knows anything about this?

I cant imagine it did much damage there are a lot of protection systems regarding charging on the iPhone however repeated on/off isn't great for a lithium battery.

If you are concerned take it into an apple store they can do diagnostics on the battery that will tell you whether or not any harm has been done

Step 1: Run a diagnostic test with Apple but do NOT actually go to the Apple Store to do this. Just have an online chat/call with them, and they can run the test wirelessly. Going to the store to run a Battery Diagnostic is nothing more than a waste of time.
Step 2: Follow Apple's instructions from there. (Depending on the results, they may want you to do a factory restore, or book an appointment with genius bar)

I had this problem but it turned out to be a faulty charger. It would plug it in and it would ding and vibrate like I was plugging in and unplugging it rapidly over and over. It was an OEM iPad charger but it decided to die. Apple was nice enough to swap it out for me free of charge.
