Thanks, hopefully you stick to your word.

I still have a feeling that you won't....
Then you don't know me or have yet to hear my rants about the camera bump. I buy based on aesthetics and design because the phone already does everything I need it to.

And with 99% of my pictures being of product on shelves at the grocery store so I bring home the right thing to my wife I don't need a bazillion MP camera so my wife can read the nutrition guide from space.

But if you must know what I shall buy in 2018, it will be the Huawei P10 Plus. Unless Huawei comes out with something better before then. Believe it or not, there are manufacturers who can make their camera flush with the casing!

I can afford one. I can afford 10.

The reason why they're so polarising?

Well... they're not cool.

They're no longer au currant, no longer a la mode.

Phones are no longer in vogue. Not just the iPhone X, no phone in general.

It was a trend, it's now gone.

Nobody I know cares about owning the latest iPhone anymore, most people I see these days in the circles (That's older than 20) still use 5S's or SE's. The move to a bigger handset was when the fashion aspect died off, there's a reason why the SE sells so well.

It's no longer cool to care about which phone you own.

Yup. I work with teenagers and I can tell you that even they don’t really care anymore. As long as a phone can run Instagram and Snapchat that’s all that they care about. I’ll occasionally hear an Apple vs Android debate but they’re a lot more friendly than what I see online, because they don’t care that much.

I'm a designer.

Well, I'm a fancy word for a guy who sits behind a sewing machine for a living and gets told how to modify clothing for other people to shove their name on as a part of their collection. Working in this environment, you tend to get wind of what's hot and what's not - The trend just a few years ago was people actually having their technology in hand while modelling clothing, these days I'm noticing it's almost cliché to have any form of device on you.

A year ago you'd see the models lined up all glued to their phones, these days it's back to the good old days, staring blankly at the wall, cigarette in hand.

Trends doing what trends do, as the masses adopt a trend, those at the forefront of fashion became too cool for it.

.....Somehow I feel people are lying and the iPhone X gonna be sold out it in seconds
Yes it will. Scalpers love launches like this.

Anyway, peoples disgust has less to do with the phone and more to do with Tim Cooks laser focus on not only maximizing profits, but increasing prices among the entire industry. You see people justify the cost by saying "Well, a Samsung Note costs $950" but the truth of it is that Samsung wouldn't charge that much if Tim Cook didn't pave the way for them. And now that Apple is proving that a segment of the population embraces price gouging then what do you think the next Samsung or iPhone will cost next year?

I get it. You want the phone and thats great. But i dont see anything wrong with people trying to be rational in balancing product and value.

I wanted to like it and get it but that ugly notch at the top is ruining it for me. So I'm alright with the 8 plus

I want one! but I have alittle thought that the first ones that are having all the production problems aren't the ones to own< might be much better after they get the kinks out of production

For all those so disgusted at the price and refuse to get one and tell others of the thousand reasons why they shouldn't get one too.

Thank you, cause now I feel more confident that I will be able to get one on release day when I pre-order with my contracted network for an upgrade.

With so few bezel and an OLED screen sorry but this iPhone is the stuff of dreams.

Some say no Touch ID no buy.... Well I was using iPhones long before Touch ID (My fav being the iPhone 4/4S) and will continue to use em long after Touch ID is gone.

So again thank you.. I hope you stay true to your words and stay away from the launch.

Edit: And personally I prefer the Notch over the top and bottom bezel that the S8 has. But thats me :)

People aren’t “lying”. What you’re probably seeing is that sometimes people’s opinions are nuanced.

For example,

I hate the notch...
But overall, I believe the X is gorgeous...
However, I will not be buying one, I’ve opted for the 8+ instead....
And...I am certain the X will be extremely tough to get, for months.

To be fair, I completely respect your honest and thoughtful response.

And everything you've said is true but if history has proven anything its that devices continue to get more an more expensive not cheaper. Phones have not costed anywhere near what they do cost now even before these 2017 phones arrived.

So it's more about where we draw the line, as the market will always continue to push to a higher cost until the masses stop buying.

Nope, I am going to personally thank you for testing a beta product for me this year so next year they will have a better upgrade model than 7+ to X leap.

Help a brother out? Lol

To notch or not to notch, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous 8 owners
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles with a notch

Your post is so original that I think, if we work together, we might get a book deal out of it. I’ll contact my publisher and get back to you.

There’s just one problem. I’m buying every single X on launch day. No matter. We’ll work it out.

Just so I am clear, you think there is some large forum conspiracy, psy-ops, misinformation campaign to suppress demand so people can secretly try and get iPhone X with less competition...

...Or maybe some people don't like the design or cost.

Which is more believable?

Looks like you’re begging ppl to buy X. Playing a reverse psychology game, you don’t want to be alone in buying X, you are scared. If you really meant what you are saying then don’t worry i wont be your competitor. I am on a stage in my life where i have started selling my electronics which i purchased and collected for many years. Maybe my testosterone level is not like before when i used to get excited for every new released iphone. I guess i need to take Horny Goat Weed or Viagra so i get the same effect from apple’s keynote.
