Same here, well I got my phone delivered in the afternoon. I have no scratches on my phone. I do put it in my pocket but whichever pocket I put it in, I make sure I don’t put anything else in that pocket.

Sorry but the guys who are getting scratches on their iPhones just isn’t taking good care of it.

Nothing to do with not taking care of it. Mine goes into a microfibre pouch and then into my pocket. It never gets put into hard surfaces (always sits on top of its pouch).

I would say I pretty much baby my phone as much as possible without using a case. Mine has no scratches either... until you hold a flashlight against it and there are loads of micro scratches. I would put money on yours being the same.

The only thing I would caution you of using mothers wax on the stainless Apple Watch, is the past can become lodged inside the ports, which would be almost impossible to remove.

But the advantage with the stainless Apple Watch, is the Sapphire display, which I have not had any scratches with the help of the Sapphire.
i did it a couple times and everything works fine but yeah i make sure to apply carefully but the the screen on my apple watch is pristine i forgot to mention i wish i can get out the scatches off of my iPhone screen though.

I'm not really aware of any way to remove the scratches off an iPhone display. The only really thing you can do is apply a screen protector that would help conceal the scratches, depending how bad they really are.

thankfully not that bad only way to see the hairline scratch is putting it at an angle in the light i'm waiting for amazon delivery tomorrow but the ocd in me just hates it. small world problems lol.

Does someone like me?

Yes I like you, and most other people will as long as you are a kind thoughtful person in life. You can't please everyone though so don't be sad if the occasional person doesn't. Also you have nice nails, but they may be the cause of your scratches?

This is why I wish apple went with the matte aluminum. I get the flashiness, but christ for the people like me who have OCD, this sucks. I've heard all about the cape cod cloths you can get to buff them out but it is annoying.
the jet black is much much worse than any color X as far as scratches

Did this happen from taking it in and out of your case? When I used cases I would get more scratches than I do now without them. Dirt gets into the edges and its not air tight. Causes fine scratching over time.

Actually, it really doesn't matter when you start polishing with a Cape Cod cloth. Speaking from having a lot of experience with my 316 L stainless Apple Watches, I'm someone that's very particular that doesn't like to see any scratches, I polish my Apple Watch frequently to remove the finer scratches regularly. It has had zero effect on the stainless steel, no matter how many times I polished it. You just don't need to do any heavy rubbing and minor scratches are easily removed with very little effort From the cloth.

In the case of the stainless surgical steel used on the silver iPhone X bands, it's literally identical to the stainless steel Apple Watch.
I know, but I didn’t want to encourage someone new to the business of polishing delicate pieces like this to go at the process this early and expect the same results people with years of experience and trial and error get on the same endeavor. I know the pitfalls of that from sad missteps in following my dad’s footsteps on some old watches. Even I would have some potential for disaster these days because it’s been about 25 years since I sat down at my dad's workbench helping him restore some of our vintage items.

Yes I flashed a light on it and there were micro scratches! Without flashing a flashlight on it, it’s not visible though. Unlike my Apple Watch it’s visible regardless of flashing a light on it. I think this may be a stronger steel.

You don't need years of Experience to use a Cape Cod cloth. You need patience. As already mentioned, you can start using the cloth right out the package and gradually apply it around the edges, then remove any excess with a microfiber cloth. Obviously most are aware, but Just avoid contact with the dislay and oleophobic coating.

If there were a lot of intricate parts to maneuver around or open ports on various pieces of jewelry, then yes, some experience would be required. But that's not in the sense of the stainless bands around the iPhone, again it's patience. And the bands are thick enough surrounding the iPhone X, where it's actually quite easy to do.

My Space Gray has been case less since day one, not one scratch. This mush be a Silver only issue.

Lol, I suppose that’s true. My mind must still be on watches! And I keep forgetting while my hand eye coordination may be shot, not everyone else’s is.

does the space black have the same coating as the space black apple watch? Which in turn help with scratches, no?

What did you use? Doesn’t that damage the screen?

For the stainless steel? I used Never Dull from Home Depot. I put two sheets of plastic on both ends of the iPhone (reused the original box wrapping since it sticks to the display) then polished the steel. And I just took off the wrapping afterwards.

Yes it’d likely damage the screen if you don’t protect it.

Don't worry, there's a lot of people having the same issue, but I'm sad to tell you this is completely normal because the housing of the phone is made of stainless steel, it doesn't matter how much you take care of it, i'll eventually scratch.

I have a Silver Stainless Steel just like you, and I only used it without a case for about 3 hours and microabrassions and hairline scratches appeared, and it's completely normal, and it's not because you don't care about it. The Polished Stainless Steel, scratches, it's a fact, I have a bunch of Stainless Steel watches and doesn't even matter how much you take care of stainless steel it scratches even if you use a microfiber cloth, that will scratch it haha.

Even if you put your iPhone in a case, the dust and debris particles on the iPhone and collected inside the case manage to scratch it, but I repeat, this is completely normal and something you'll need to live with, because using a case or not, it will eventually scratch, I know this won't be easy, but just use it and enjoy it, there's nothing else to do, and it's not all sad and disgrace, the stainless steel is extremely strong against the wimpy aluminum on the past generation iPhones, and it will scratch itself, but won't lost its brightness.

Same link I posted in another thread about the same "issue" with stainless steel. My Watch looks at least that scratched on occasion, but it's so easy to polish them out.

I've left a few comments in various threads about this.

Firstly if you're going to use a cape cod cloth, you really should go on you tube and look up polishing with a cape cod cloth.

You need gloves, a clean polishing cloth, tape, and of course the cape cod.

Honestly... and I stress this! This forum is going to be lit up in a few weeks when people who have no idea what they are doing order cape cod clothes from amazon and try polishing this phone. If that stuff gets into the speakers it's game over!!! If it gets on the screen, the vibrate switch, or dare I say into the phone where there's a micro opening you are going to wish you never tired doing this.

Anyway..if people are bold enough to roll with this, get educated and watch a few videos.

My short take is gets some gloves on, put tape carefully around the screen, and cut a small piece of the cloth and wrap it around a q tip and gently move around the stainless steel band rubbing back and fourth, not in a circle, back and fourth. Do one side at a time, and than use a clean polishing cloth (like a watch cloth) and carefully polish the silver to a nice finish.

I've done this on my stainless steel watches and the stuff does work, but seriously I've been polishing my watches for the better half of 15 years!

Happy polishing guys!
Can watch repair places do this professionally?

To a watch yes...but to an iPhone? I doubted very much. They won't want to take responsibility. Do some research on YouTube, not a terribly hard thing to do but just be very careful with the ports and the speaker grill

I bought a named slick warship and put it on my iPhone X and it's fantastic.. you cannot see it is on at all, it's completely clear and it protects from an any scratches around the sides. Definitely a great investment

That’s normal. The steel is easy to scratch. You can polish it out if it bothers you, but it’ll keep happening if you don’t use a case.

I find it disappointing when people accept this as normal on a supposedly premium device.

Apple should use more durable materials.

That’s interesting - earlier reports had suggested the Space Gray was less durable.
