I am glad I don't have an 'identical twin.' Just *look* at my sweet face! Can anyone fool the X with this??

"In its test, Business Insider first had one twin register his face and then simply try to fool Face ID by wearing a hat, glasses, and a scarf, and Apple's security system unlocked every time."

It seems that Business Insider put FaceID through some training, while Mashable trained it to detect both twins.

It would be interesting if some training post registration would cause the phone to differentiate the Mashable twins.

My parner’s an identical twin. After I get my X Friday, any potential problems with re-registering it to her and seeing if her twin can open it, then resetting it again to my face?
No problem at all. You can always reset the face-lock feature on an account and start over.

Totally. That's why my passcode is 123456.

My Password is 'incorrect'. That way if I ever forget my password, I will get: 'Your Password is incorrect" as a reminder.

If Nilay Patel of The Verge can have issues and he doesn't have a twin, it can be a problem.

People saying turn off Face ID is so self-defensive on this $1000+ iPhone. You are eliminating a differentiating feature from iPhone 8 duo and several others. They have no other biometric option either.

What's left then that makes X standout? What exclusive, exclusive features? Animoji? Gesture controls that can easily be added on iOS 11.3 for older iPhones? OLED? Notch? New design? We know Apple will use the same design for 4 years.

It's not a hate on the X but there's a double standard. It's a shallow world. If they are ugly, they get treated worse. If they are pretty, they get treated better.

When 7 Plus added Telephoto, water/dust resistance, and dual front speakers, it got blasted for removing headphone jack and looking the same.

If X looks different but adds nothing new except Face ID and Animoji, it gets called best iPhone ever. Prisoners of the moment.

Some folks are better off with an 8 Plus and save $200 for features they don't care about or want to turn off.

They probably want a future authentication like DNA-ID, where we lick out phones to unlock it. :p I'm facepalming all over to these obvious user-case. Like God, what are they expecting?

What excuses, Apple specifically said during the keynote that FaceID isn't for you if you have a twin. They specifically mentioned it.

What's next, a TouchID test with someone who has no fingers?

You still can use your toes. I tried that once, works well...

If a twins is so concerned then (s)he should get the iPhone 8. Identical twins do not have identical fingerprints.

Lol the excuses start rolling. “Face ID is the future. It is so secure”

Touch ID could prevent your twin. And those saying hey most don’t have a twin, what benefit does Face ID bring? I could use Touch ID in my pocket, on my desk, etc. How is face ID an upgrade? Heck, even the Samsung Reina scanner is not fooled by twins.

Yeah like everyone have twins. Why are you lurking here anyways, samsung fanboy.

Well it's a good thing I don't have a twin so this doesn't matter to me at all

For many, this would be a non-issue. I don't know too many pairs of twins that would want to access each other's personal data on their iPhones. And it's not even guaranteed that would unlock the iPhone for every set of twins that this is tested on.

Good thing most of us don't have a twin.

Apparently you don't watch soap operas where it looks like everyone DOES have a twin- sooner or later- often one that your parents never told you about. Also, you are likely to suffer amnesia 2 or 3 times in your life, apparently always have 6-10 minutes to step over to the side and have some drama-filled conversation and there is generally a bad music soundtrack that follows you around or eases you in and out of those 6-10 minute conversations. You may have been switched at birth and are actually a Prince... or a member of a family that (who you thought was) your family hates... or worse, you might be a hybrid mix of both families. Your worst enemy might be the only person with the transplant you need. Your spouse might be one of them... or a government spy... or an alien... or a figment of your coma-driven imagination. Etc.

And then there's your cloned copies, identical cousins, identical imposters via much plastic surgery. Etc.

I can’t even tell the difference between my wife’s identical and her. Who even knows, I might have slept with them both.

You wish.

Well if you happen to have an evil identical twin that wants your phone, use passcode instead of face ID.

Or continue to use a phone with TouchId, since even identical twins have different prints.

Which part of "IDENTICAL TWINS" is so mysterious?
But identical twins don't have identical fingerprints. FaceID as a whole is more secure but less so for twins (at least off the bat - I suspect that after some time machine learning may make the ID more accurate). Seems like a reasonable trade-off from a utilitarianism standpoint.

The thing is Apple never said it would work with twins in fact they said the opposite!

I don’t see the problem anyway if you do have a twin it’s highly unlikely they will want to get into your phone. From what I’ve seen Face ID works very well.

what are they expecting o_O well, if these guys really demanding a fool-proof that will not work with identical faces then just wait for a future authentication like DNA-ID.. where we will lick our phone to unlock it :p

Yeah yeah, we know you have a fetish.;)

There's nothing wrong with it, is it.

No, though holding a foto of that person in front of the camera will unlock it. /Facepalm/

WHO the **** cares? Your twin is your brother/sister, not a stranger.
So I guess you're sharing everything with your siblings, all your passwords, your social security number, access to your bank accounts?

Good thing most of us don't have a twin.
So F*** the few millions of people who have, right?
[doublepost=1509490241][/doublepost]
Even if your identical twin couldn't unlock your iPhone X with Face ID, they could probably guess your date of birth and enter that as your passcode....
You're probably joking but for some people Face ID will actually result in lower security, as they'll have to say hello to 5 years ago -before the introduction of Touch ID- and go back to using weak 4-digit passcodes.

Tell that to Apple.
