Instead we get a hindrance on screen ****ing come on.. this is your anniversary phone. It would've been flawless that way.

I hope this wil be implemented with video and photo's .. i hate it when video and photo's drapes around the notch so a part of the image is not visible .. so this option above would be great for movies etc.

It would have been amazing! You wouldn't even notice the notch at the top at all because it would blend in so well!
But now, with the screen going around it, it is always in your face

I think I was more excited for the 7 Plus. I really don't like that notch. Maybe in person it is less hideous? At the same time, I don't want an 8 with the same massive bezels I've had for the last 3 years. 4K60 is the only thing I am excited for, which is pretty sad.

It's hard to overstate how beautiful this screen is - and that's not hyperbole brought on by extreme fatigue. It's deep, rich and smooth, and draws level with Samsung in the quality stakes easily. If the planned effect of the iPhone X was to wow with its display, it's certainly done that.

Wow. Matching the screen quality Samsung has offered for years is worth praise like that when Apple finally does it.

Talk about setting the bar low for Apple.

What you want and what you get are two different things. The notch is reality now and it's not the worst thing that could possibly happen to this iPhone. I understand it doesn't appease to everybody, but it does have its functionality to maximize the display. I personally don't think it really looks all that bad blended in with the black display

$1320 in Canada for the 64GB version.

I'm stepping out of line.

$2000 in New Zealand, not a chance of me shelling out that kind of $$ for a phone.

Here is Apples problem, for what people like me use the phone for, Android is now good enough.

My iPhone SE should last me another 2-3 years and by them Android will be even better, and be more than good enough.

So, I am stepping off the treadmill .

So it's slick, noticable and can be used to raise your social status (assuming that you only mingle with people who can't afford to shell out $1000 for a phone). Apart from this, does it really do anything useful that iPhone 8 can't (apart from purely incremental stuff like faster CPU and better camera)?

Still not tempted by iPhone "Notch" @ parity with USA $999 = UK £999 with exchange rate currently at £1.00 = $1.33
price should be £752.44p NOT £999.00

A grand for a phone, you've gotta be kidding.

In the US you have to add Tax whilst in the UK you already have VAT included in the price. Still pricier than I would have liked it to be, especially for the jump between 64-256, I would have gone for 128 which is enough for me...
I will bite the bullet and get it though. I like it too much.
