I'm not being negative. I am pointing out that I do not need a consensus from faceless people on the internet to make a decision, nor do I need to know what people will think of a decision of mine before I make it.

I do live in the real world and that is why I hold this value.

A guy starts a thread looking for advice on if moving from an XS to the 11 is worth it and you start talking about yourself?

Classy.

Did you even bother to read the title?

A guy starts a thread asking if he's crazy.

And the part you're quoting about me (out of order) is my response to OP's comment. It wasn't my first post. So, yeah, that's talking about myself, but only in response to something OP said about me.

When do the youtube personalities get their phones for review? Do they get them before "official" launch?

I’d just wait until next year. IMO the X looks better than the standard 11, and so for the sake of a better camera and a an hour or two better battery it really isn’t worth it, hell im going from an X to an 11 pro max and I’m still not completely sure why as it doesn’t even have 5g

Dark mode one the OLED is far better.

I saw an XS an XR with ios13 side by side

This reason i will never go back to lcd on a phone

They bring them home from the event so they get enough time in for their review and then they are allowed to release their review on Friday at launch.

I'm in the same boat. I think the 11 is fantastic bang for buck and by trading in my X I could get the 11 for a great price.

Initially my plan was to spend 70 euro to replace my X battery and wait until next year to upgrade to the Pro Max, but the cost to do that would be so high. Now I am a total screen nerd and I appreciate the blacks on my X every time I watch a YouTube video, so coupled with the increased bezels, maybe I'll be one of these few people who will never get over the downgrade to LCD?

I'll have to go use one when they release and compare like-for-like, because I really want the larger screen, but can't afford to jump to the Max this year.

I used dark mode in the beta on my work iPhone 8 for months - can’t tell a dramatic difference.

I am doing the same, I was going to get the Pro or Pro Max, but like I said in another topic the absence of USB C and pro motion display has been a big let down for me.
I personally cannot see a huge difference between OLED and LCD on a 6 inch screen (plus I like to use matte screen protectors on my phone, wich downgrade a bit picture quality anyway), and I rarely used telephoto on my X.
Really looking forward to the 11 due better camera compartment with ultrawide lens and night mode and increased battery life, plus 128 GB is the sweet spot for my needs.

Its absolutely crazy.
To spend such huge amounts of money for a few extra features you will likely not use very much after the honeymoon period has ended.

This is why I went from XS Max to 11 Pro Max. Sheer stupidity on my behalf.
Promising myself this is the last time for the next 2-3 years...… I hope.....

I sold my Xs two weeks ago, before introduction of the new iPhones, to get the most money out of it. I was prepared to buy a flagship and was hoping that the design won't be that terrible. But after official introduction I started to regret what I did and really wanted my Xs back, there was no wow effect on the new phones except photos. Right now, as I already did that, it would be stupid to buy the same phone again.

I started to think if I really need to buy that 999$ phone which has such a little difference between regular 11.

Display
I borrowed Xr for the time before new iPhones comes out to test it out and feels great. I can see the difference, yes. Oled is amazing but LCD seems not that bad either. It's sharper than my iPad pro 11 display, which uses the same technology.

Telephoto
Would be nice to have but ultra wide seems much more useful which regular 11 have.

I think I will be happy with 11. Better photos are more important for me than OLED display on the Xs which is the only better thing for last year's model.

I went from a X to a XR last time and have been really impressed with the phone. Battery life is amazing; screen is just as good as the X (blind tests have shown this too).

I've missed the 2x zoom as I found it useful for taking photos when out running in the hill. And I do prefer a smaller phone, but apart from that, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the XR (now 11).

Same here, I wanted the green one. I also like the idea of having a bigger display. And yes, like everybody im somehow "concerned" regarding the display, but the benefits win.
Did the exact same thing. The green was too good. Plus, I am not enamored with my X’s photos and the battery is already down to 88%.

I'm going from an X to the 11 in Black.

X faceId is a first gen product. Sometimes it takes 2 seconds for it to unlock. I would like a larger phone, but not so large as the 6.5". I have normal human pockets. Also the weight of the larger phone I dislike. When you're wearing shorts, the heavy (half-pound 11Pro Max) will weight my shorts down. No, I have enough muscles to carry a half pound phone but why bother?

I think the 11 is the perfect size, and the benefits outweight the negatives. I rarely take pictures, and OLED consumes more battery and gives me headaches.

They have them as stated.

Last year it was the Tuesday before launch when the embargo went off. I think it varies from Tuesday-Thursday depending on what Apple allows.

I ordered the iPhone 11 to replace my Xs, mainly to save on the monthly payment. The screen is my biggest concern and possibly missing the telephoto for concerts or sporting events. But, I am looking forward to the new super wide lens, size difference and the new photo updates.

If I had an extra $1100 or so I'd much rather have the new 11 pro in the new green color but I don't watch movies or play intensive games on my phone so an OLED screen is not something I "need".

I did the crazy thing and went X-->XS and when I did, I did via iUP. Now that I'm making monthly iUP payments, why not just get the 11 Pro, make those same payments and have the newer phone??? :D

It's the one poor financial decision that I consciously allow myself to make.

Apple has really made the iPhone 11 compelling to iPhone X owners, as it should be. The battery is going to last bout 50% longer, the display is larger, and it's nearly $300 less for double the storage ($999 64gb < $749 128gb). Plus I always have wanted more to zoom out, not in. Despite the panel differences and the fact that it's not the same phone, many believe this is the direct upgrade to the X/XS line if they're not caught up on the whole Pro division Apple has added to iPhone, or the fact that this dynamic has essentially been in place since the X came out alongside the similarly powerful bot old looking iPhone 8, etc. Marketing and features wise Apple has setup the iPhone 11 to do very well on **** would otherwise be a boring year.

I wanted the 11 Pro to start but coming from the X it didn't feel worth it. I was also concerned about the matte glass finish and how it would wear (I think poorly). I ultimately want something different, 2020 is where that lands I hope. Giving my father my iPhone X and it's his first iPhone so it's gonna be a fun iPhone day regardless with everyone getting an upgrade.

I think Apple was offering $400 for a X if you trade it in for a 11 Pro. Might be something to consider. Alternatively you can try selling local for $450-500 (selling online might end up being less after all kinds of seller fees), or check with your carrier to see if they offer anything better.

No crazy at all. If the Xr (and soon to be released 11) didn't feel awkward in my hand, I would make the switch myself. I really like the Xr a lot, it's just the device feel awkward in my hand due to the size. The X/Xs is great for my hands though, so if I did upgrade, I'd probably go with the 11 Pro.

I don't really have much to add, but as others said the 11 is an upgrade over the X in every single way except the screen. I still want to see one in person before making my decision, but after trade in the 128gb 11 is $350. That is the main reason I am contemplating the upgrade even though I previously had no interest in this years phones. The battery and night mode are very appealing.

The thing is, it is like 4+ hours more battery than the X (apple actually quotes 5). That is a pretty compelling reason for a lot of people.

I have an iPhone X and I pre-ordered an 11. The battery is this one is starting to be reduced, and I really wanted a slightly bigger phone.

Giving me $400 trade-in on my X brought a new 11 down to just under $400. It was too good of a deal to pass up.

I'm gonna wait to see what Dark Mode is like on my X and decide from there if it's a big enough deal for me.
