I agree. I was getting about the same as the 8 plus I gave to my son, but after a few days, I am now getting better battery life than I did on my 8 Plus! Love it.

The iPhone X is AMAZING!!! I love it. The display is beautiful. the faceID works as advertised. I don't know what to say... WOW!!! I think iPhone X is the first phone that I LOVE!!!! Apple did that. :D:D:D

Same got mine in Silver. I really can't explain how good this phone feels to use.

I think it's without a doubt the best looking iPhone made so far :)

There's just no going back to phat bezel phones for me

What do you guys mean by low angle?
Waist level.

I had it fail once on Friday, entered my passcode, and it hasn’t failed since.

When you enter your passcode, it uses that face scan to update your information. Even though me and my wife know each other’s passcodes, we are unlocking our own phones for the other to use. We don’t want to confuse FaceID into thinking there was a drastic change to our face.

That’s how the two brothers that posted a video fooling FaceID did it. One of the brothers kept unlocking the phone with a passcode until eventually FaceID started recognizing him as the owner of the phone.

I held my phone down by my lower abs just now and faceID worked for me.

I was surprised that it easily unlocked in my car on my phone mount. One time it didn’t, but it was because I was stopped at a traffic light and looking straight ahead while swiping up. Once I looked directly at the phone to see what was going on, it unlocked immediately.

I did a number of times and it worked just fine in the sunlight.

Same, I have had zero issues with Face ID. No issues in sunlight, no issues in pitch black, no issues in glasses/sunglasses, and no issues when waking. For those having issues, first thing I would do is reset Face ID and set it up again.

I don't. Thick 5mm bezels on all sides plus that thing on the top. Surely it is not nicest phone out there. Ugly to me.
I have personally fully embraced the notch. Plus, most of the time you don’t even notice it.

It’s a work of art. The speed, intuitiveness and ease of use is amazing. I was very keen to say Byeeeeeeeeeeeë to that home button. Dint miss it one bit as Face ID has been a 100 % success! Takes less than 30 seconds to set up.

Those of you who love the phone: Do you have TrueTone off or on? For me the display is piss yellow with TT on.
I have my True Tone on. I am in situations with LED lights, so that may play a role. It’s almost the same as my old iPhone 6!

Got mine earlier today. Initial thoughts after the setup and playing around a bit:
  • Phone is unfortunately very slippery and definitely requires a case. I was hoping it was going to be like my 4S where I could comfortably use it without a case, but no way.
  • Back is a fingerprint magnet (Space Gray).
  • Very nice screen, but it's not life-changing.
  • With TrueTone on, the screen leans heavily towards yellow (for me). But it's way too blue if you turn it off. Would be nice if (like you can with Night Shift) you could have a slider to bias the raw result towards blue or yellow to your taste.
  • The blue shift with viewing angle is real, but it's not that objectionable, really it's a non-issue.
  • I find the screen very good in daylight, easier to see with less reflectivity compared to my 6S Plus.
  • The notch is not annoying in normal portrait use, but when watching full screen horizontal content (movies), it is.
  • The phone gets very hot during setup, at least when transferring from another phone.
  • The setup process where you hold your old phone near the new one to initiate transfer of everything is amazing, I really love this. I don't know if this is new, but it makes it so easy. FaceID was super easy to set up. The whole setup and transfer of existing phone process was remarkably painless, something I've had numerous issues with in the past.
  • Face ID is often slower than the reviews led me to believe, especially in low light. It's something I can get used to but it is most definitely not "instant" most of the time. Reminds me of the first-gen TouchID, there's often that slight pause.
  • I don't like that FaceID won't work with sunglasses when "require attention" is on. I think it would be nice to have an option to bypass that requirement if it can detect you're wearing sunglasses. This could actually be a safety issue in some situations, like while driving (not a big problem for TouchID because you can keep your eyes on the road).
  • Apple Pay with FaceID works pretty well.
  • Seems fast, scrolling nice and smooth (after initial setup, downloading, and indexing completes).
  • I didn't think the lack of a headphone jack would bother me but it's kind of a PITA. Especially since I leave a bunch of headphones around (living room, near bed, in car, in backpack) and just plug them in where I am. But they only give you one adapter so I can't do this without buying a bunch of adapters.
  • The selection of wallpapers is extremely limited.
  • Almost none of my third party apps are updated yet and effects range from large black borders to display artifacts to outright crashing on launch.
  • The swipe gesture for switching apps is a bit hit and miss, not sure if it's me needing to refine my gestures, but it doesn't always work well.
  • Speaker volume and quality is decent but not outstanding. About 25% louder could be useful in some situations.
  • Camera is very good overall (for a cel phone camera) but the portrait mode still needs a lot of work. It has issues with edges and the studio light effects won't work at all if the background is too far away. Sometimes it looks great but sometimes it's unusable. Being able to adjust the amount of background blur applied would be useful, as would a refined algorithm to better approximate true bokeh (specular highlights) as an optical lens does (this phone should have the processing power to pull that off).
  • Low light photos and video are still pretty bad, I can't sugarcoat that -- very grainy and flat, loss of details with heavy noise reduction applied. Flash is still pretty weak.
  • Apple's darkest iBooks mode is not actually black, but a gray. This is extremely annoying since the reason I wanted OLED the most was to read in the dark with no glowing backlight. But the not-black color they chose makes it look like it has a glowing backlight. And the ever-present "home button line" that is a distracting bright white. Boo, Apple.
  • Battery life seems OK but I'm already pretty sure it's not going to come close to matching my 6S Plus (typically had between 55%-70% remaining at the end of the day).
  • Lowest flashlight level should be even dimmer.

Someone that having the X can confirm whats the limitation angle you can use with FaceID ? Can you open it while it sitting on the table (within hand’s reach) without picking it up?

I tried to get used to it, but just couldn't and ended up turning it off. It's way, way, way too yellow IMO. And I'm the guy who always sets my tvs to the "warm" color temperature (most consumer screens are set to be too blue by default). I keep True Tone on on my iPad Pro and I like it, but on the iPhone X it's weird. Hopefully they'll scale it back in an update.

EDIT: I should note that True Tone seems to work better in brighter light. For me it’s only in low incandescent light (inside at night) it seems to over-correct.

Ok, this could be my post. I am exactly like you in terms of viewing habits but just can't stand the TT on the X :).

It kind of works opening when flat on a table but I'm having some issues with it. It seems to fail a decent amount even with face directly over, and my face needs to be fairly on-axis (like less than 30°) for it to work at all. I definitely wouldn't say it works reliably. For this situation, TouchID is far superior (at least for now).

Tnx for confirming this.
So looks like its not really working if you what to open it while its lying on the table... o_O Hopefully in the future they'll improve the angles for it to work.

For now i'll stay with TouchID that works everywhere.

I am really pleased with mine. Nothing about it has let me down. The only thing I will say right off the bat is that NO smartphone should cost this price, its just not worth it. I will have to give a lot of consideration to future upgrades now that the bar has been raised.

Anyway, that aside, everything had worked flawlessly, FACE ID is great and all my concerns went away very quickly. Using to for Apple Pay works perfectly and I personally find it a bit easier. The cameras are great, I love portrait mode, but it is noticeably less effective on the from facing camera and looks way less natural. The screen is great and I have kept true tone on, I find it works well and every time I turn it off the whites just look blue and cold. I have turned night shift off as I find its not needed with the true tone display.

Form factor is great and it feels no different size wise to my 7 but finding a way to include reachability was a good call by Apple as getting my thumb across the screen can be a stretch.

The notch is actually a plus point not a negative, as it allows the screen to be BIGGER rather than smaller. If the notch continued right the way along the top of the phone creating a thicker top bezel, you would have to push the signal, battery meter, etc below it, making the usable screen space even smaller. I like it.

All in all very happy, but due to the price I think yearly incremental upgrades at the cost of $1000.00 just won't cut it anymore for me.

I have found that my Face ID works pretty well (95% +). I have read on the forums here that if you’re having issues to re-do your face scans. The first front on, and the second more from an angle where you are looking upward, so it captures the lower angles of your face. I did this in a dim room and had no issues. I can fund it unlocks too readily at times LOL!

Agreed, I have seen Face ID unlock my phone as I literally skim it past my face whist moving about. I wasn't even trying to unlock the phone.

I’ve been using mine since last week and I’m incredibly happy with it. They really did do a good job, the new screen is gorgeous and it’s really fast. Adapted to the swipe gestures quickly and Face ID really does just work.

I'm so happy for you. What color did you get?
