It think it’s an advanced that it is a bit smaller again. Sure I got used to my Plus models, but then again I managed fine on the original iPhone as well. I’m sure I’ll adjust to a slightly different size.

And I managed on my Palm Phone as well. Now those were tiny keys. And with swiping up and the cards it will be just like I’m back at the best phone OS ever, being WebOS, again :)

Here’s a helpful photo. The OP does have a valid point but I’ll hold judgement until I actually have the X in my hands as far as typing goes. I really doubt it will be a huge deal but it may be a negative surprise for some Plus users.
MR servers won’t let me upload a screenshot from my phone (????) so here’s the link to the website that has the size comparison guide between the different phones. Scroll down and add the 7/7Plus to the mix. https://www.phonearena.com/phones/A...iPhone-7,Apple-iPhone-7-Plus/phones/9815,9816

Interesting. It’s damn near the exact same size as a Galaxy S6 in terms of dimensions.

The other thing I didn't think about was the fact that the keyboard will be sitting lower on the screen than the regular bezeled iPhones so it will take some adjusting for those of us typing with both thumbs.

Is the screen on the X really that much smaller than Om the plus models? Can anyone please provide a graphical illustration?

I am a frequent Mac rumors news reader but I always assumed the X screen was the same size basically like my plus but without the bezels?
I don’t get it.View attachment 720897

Personally, I don't think it will be as big of a difference as people think.

It really is a big change for those who use Plus models. Don't take my word for it, wait till it comes out and look at one. It's not as big as Apple is making it seem. It's a marketing tactic, same Apple has used in the past. You'll see a Plus model next year to compete with Androids.

I guess we'll see. I just have always been able to adjust fairly quickly. I have the 7+, but my girlfriend has a 6s that I have no issue typing on.

it will be a change but it’s not that big. The longer screen and no bezels will make it feel bigger

Having just used an SE for a week (coming from a 4.7" 6S and then going back to it), using a smaller keyboard will be fine and is probably not as big an issue as you think it is. When I have autocorrect I'm pretty much the same speed and accuracy, and when I don't have autocorrect I'm only slightly less accurate (and was getting increasingly accurate each day, so I think it's a matter of practice). With a smaller keyboard there is less finger travel distance, so you can actually be faster in many situations depending on your typing technique.

Try using iOS 11's one-handed keyboard mode for 3 or 4 days and see how it feels (not quite the same as having a smaller width phone, but is the closest to approximating this).

Took me several days before SE keyboarding felt completely natural, but it did happen. I imagine the plus->X transition will be similar for a lot of people.

Yes, however you can't use some of the longer screen so essentially that is a bezel. And programs are not allowed to use it based on the developer tools. I'm not saying it's bad, just saying people think this is going to be just as big as current plus size devices.. it's not.. and will finally return next year.. which means if you want to wait a year for something you already have.. just in an OLED format.. might as well. And you save money doing it. Frankly if they are going to jack the price up on the phones this year, next year the prices will be even higher for the Plus model. Better start saving now.

No one knows for sure oled plus is coming. Can you imagine how much supplies would be limited by two phones in oled.

No problem, if they launch a phone next year with a bezelles display and the same physical size as the iPhone Plus then that could be one big keyboard!!

I like the fact that Apple has still made a smallish device, I keep looking at the Plus but not sure if I could use it everyday.
The Plus keyboard next year will likely be identical to all Plus’s before it. It’s highly unlikely that Apple will increase the width of the Plus as it’s already at its maximum in width.

Will the X be tall enough to have a permanent row of number keys? That would be reason to buy the X for me
It could but Apple doesn’t have smart enough software engineers. The screen will largely be wasted due to poor software design. Their idea is merely to show more vertical content which is beyond idiotic because the vertical plane is easily scrollable. New methodologies of app layouts must be created in order for the additional screen height to be really useful.

There is an extremely high chance that a Plus-sized OLED is coming. Whether it’s in 2018, or 2019, it’s coming. OLED supplies will be immensely increased in the next 1-2 years as more suppliers and factories come online.

while i agree with the last part.. you will always be waiting on new technology. i say enjoy the oled this year and next year get the oled plus

I got big hands, so while I'm a bit disappointed with this revelation, I do welcome texting with one hand again

It's coming, quote me on this thread next year if you want. It's an obvious change, they have to do it. The current OLED in X is not big enough for the Plus users and Apple knows they can sell even more. The reason they didn't do two sizes this year... because they an get away with a 1 off device when compared to the older iPhone (6/7/8) design.

I do believe you. Just saying we can get the other one next year to if that’s the case
