So was anyone else fascinated by the video they showed of the iPhone X that showed swirling, glittery paint on the screen? The paint filled the corners, and moved around the notch. It got me hoping that this is some kind of live wallpaper for the X that would move as you tilted the phone.

I haven't seen or heard any mention of it anywhere, but for those interested, it can be seen at the end of the keynote, at the 1:50:17 mark.

Thanks,
Doug

Yeah, it's highly doubtful you'll see that as a wallpaper, I too figured it was a demo video.

Why are we thinking that these wont be live on the X? I can't imagine why they would show off these wallpapers and then have them not be live. It would be one thing if they used completely different wallpapers for the ads that weren't available on the device, but it doesn't seem like they would advertise with animated wallpapers that look very similar to the stock wallpaper and then not animate them.

How do you know it was a wallpaper and not a video? I think that's where the confusion is, some people are assuming it was a wallpaper, others - including myself, are assuming it was a video to highlight the screen. Where in iOS do you see just a wallpaper like that with nothing else (time, app icons, etc.) on the screen? I'll be impressed if they pull something like that off but I highly doubt that's going to be a wallpaper.

So after watching the keynote and the video it looks like you guys may be right. I agree it is seriously annoying that apple would show it off but then not offer the motion on the actual phone. Maybe they will surprise us bet every time they showed the lock screen in a real demo it was completely static.

Here you go! Enjoy

On my wife's iPhone 8 Plus, there's live wallpaper. You have to touch the screen to animate it, though. Which is fine because I don't want it to be a battery suck.

I have the 8 plus and I do see live wallpapers, but not the ones that we are speaking about in this thread. Am I missing something?

UGH.

Apple's wallpaper/tone game is so abysmal. Those motion papers are gorgeous and I would love to see them autoplay with Face ID. They also use to update tones, but not anymore.
A few years back, I got my hands on the HTC One to play with for a few days. In a matter of moments I had a live wallpaper with falling leaves for the Fall season. It was one of the nicest digital moments I have ever encountered. For a creative company like Apple to consistently ignore the tones/wallpapers seems completely misaligned. They weren’t always this daft.

It would be cool if they kept my original 11/3 pickup and also cooler if they didn’t fraudulently bumped me to 2-3 weeks delivery date.

But yea I like that liquid wallpaper too OP.
