So was anyone else fascinated by the video they showed of the iPhone X that showed swirling, glittery paint on the screen? The paint filled the corners, and moved around the notch. It got me hoping that this is some kind of live wallpaper for the X that would move as you tilted the phone.
I haven't seen or heard any mention of it anywhere, but for those interested, it can be seen at the end of the keynote, at the 1:50:17 mark.
Thanks,
Doug

Apparently the glittery Live wallpapers are coming with iOS 11.2!!!! I kinda want to get beta but am afraid it’ll brick the X.
Ok, I don't have the X, but I did think that "fluid trippy animation" was ONE AWESOME feature just from the keynote, the commercials I've seen all week - and you're saying the phone doesn't have this? Wow.
Reminds me of that Live Photo "Blue Jewel" that didn't come with the (7 / 7+)
Anyway, my only advice right now - there is an app called "Live Maker," you can download YouTube videos (something like this - "fluid design") Import this MP4 into your phone and create a LivePhoto effect. Look for other "Fluid iPhone X" movies on YouTube. Only downfall it may not be perfectly sharp looking on that OLED screen..maybe if your can find a 4K video and save that, you'll get a fairly sharp looking video effect.

That’s fantastic if they do, that was an amazing screen effect in the adApparently the glittery Live wallpapers are coming with iOS 11.2!!!! I kinda want to get beta but am afraid it’ll brick the X.
i figured they just came up with that for the demonstration video
In what way do you have to touch it? I’ve tried all the live wallpapers and can’t get them to work. They just appear as static images when used for either the home or lock screen. On my wife's iPhone 8 Plus, there's live wallpaper. You have to touch the screen to animate it, though. Which is fine because I don't want it to be a battery suck.
I think it would be a massive battery drain if it constantly moved.
It would definitely drain battery more than usual but, it should be the consumers choice to enable it at least. Everyone’s battery needs are not the same and some could afford the decrease in battery in lieu of a full liwallpaper.I think it would be a massive battery drain if it constantly moved.

Is there any way to use those as wallpapers ???
Good ideas- i was even thinking, they could suspend the loop feature if the phone is in low power mode for those worried about battery.Live wallpapers are the suck. I've never used one other than to look at them once and say meh. Why would anyone want to mash down on the screen just to show something shift around about a quarter of an inch for 2 seconds?
They could use beautiful smooth looping video that plays from when you pick it up until you unlock the phone. For a lot of people, that would amount to no more than 5 seconds per unlock...if you unlock 100 times a day, that's only 8 minutes of video. Hardly enough to incur a massive hit on battery life. It could also loop infinitely while plugged in, making the phone a nice little piece of live ambient art.
Few clips I found that are pretty decent looking for Live Wallpaper. I did this on my 8 Plus and grabbed the clips from here
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B9vwNOHkS_GmMG4tTVRBVkZMV1U (The small Apple Logo with the moving fluid is a nice minimal look)
Maybe for a cool effect you can take these 3 second clips, create a long 10 min loop of it and have it running a video as your phone sits and charges. Envy your friends and family!
Thanks for the videos. I made live wallpapers out of it.
In case anyone wants it here’s the link : https://drive.google.com/open?id=1KCVAOniXaQ7qF4tSipf0lopGxBI3poW_

Hi thanks for that. They look amazing. As I am going from a mere iPhone 6 to the X in the next few days, how does one set these live wallpapers up? When I followed the link it gives me a short clip...
Apologies for the probably stupid question in advance!
Thanks! I will be sure to try this out!I used this app https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/live-maker-convert-videos-to-live-photos/id1081872089?mt=8 - Launch the app, you import the MP4, it will convert it to Live Wallpaper and save it to your Photos. Then go to settings, Wallpaper, Choose new wallpaper from the photos folder. You'll see the Live Wallpaper that was saved.
I actually has this on my old iPhone 6 Plus and was still able to create Live Wallpaper - and try it out in my Photos folder...but it just wouldn't work on the lock screen.
What's also cool about this, IF you have an Apple Watch, setting these Live Wallpapers to your photo background on your AW, that will animate briefly on the Watch also.
