I will never understand people that do this camping-out-to-get-a-smartphone thing.

The ONLY time I'd do this is for food or shelter, and only if the situation ever become that dire.

What do you do for fun? What makes you happy? What are your hobbies? To these people, sitting outside the Apple store to be one of the first to get the new phone is fun for them and makes them happy. Everyone has different joys in life, for them it's being around other Apple enthusiasts and potentially being one of the first to snag up the new device. It shouldn't be that hard to understand.

Hi

You guys that recieved good updates about your order are all from US and part of the Upgrade Program?

I' m in Italy and my extimated delivery date is 21-28 November (Ordered at 9:07, 7 minutes after expected because the Apple Store was not up for me) and I never had an improvement.

Thanks!

Mine was set to ship between Nov 16-24 but it shipped this morning.

Apple says delivery Nov 8 but UPS says it will deliver Nov 6. I ordered Space Gray 256gb thru the iPhone Upgrade Program. Great news this AM!

I will go out.. just to see the long lines forming. No matter what people some very interesting things happen for sure when people are in lines. :)

Am I right in saying that the people getting their delivery dates moved up are mostly those in the upgrade program?

I did the upgrade program for my iPhone 7 but I decided to keep it to give to my wife. I, meanwhile, ordered the iPhone X for full price when I preordered with a given delivery date of Nov 17-24. I'm sad that it hasn't moved up like some of you here.

My 256gb was set to be shipped by November 10th pre ordered through the Verizon website about 15 minutes after launch. Checked the status on Verizon yesterday because I seen my card was charged and it is shipped with a delivery date of November 3rd.

Purchased through Verizon Wireless with an original ship date of 11/15 for a 256 SG. Got charged last night with shipping showing this morning and phone will be delivered tomorrow

Same here. I ordered mine (256 Space Gray AT&T) and my partners (256 Silver Verizon) both originally scheduled November 16th through 24th. Woke up this morning, both were shipped with an estimated November 8th delivery date from Apple and now UPS is showing both being delivered November 6th. Both with the iPhone Upgrade program.

Awesome news, but now I am totally bummed, as I will be out of town on a business trip and won't get back until November 8th, UGH!! The irony!

My phone was originally set to ship between 11/17 - 11/24 and yesterday it changed to 11/16 - 11/24. Woke up this morning to an email saying that my phone had shipped with an 11/8 delivery. Tracking on the UPS site still shows it as 'clearance in progress'. Looking at my bank account, I have a charge from Apple Online Store.

Ordered from: Apple Store App via iPhone (didn't get in until 2:12am central)
Pre-approved Apple IUP
Carrier: Verizon
Model: 256gb Space Grey

Guessing you weren't around in the days where seeing a great band in the front row meant showing up very early.
Not even close to the same thing.

I cannot get a front-row concert experience later, or have it delivered at home, at it be the EXACT same experience.

We're talking about a phone here.

A good friend of mine works for apple, and needless to say he has been and will be very busy tomorrow. But he says he loves the energy of the apple store around launch date. Even though stressful at times everyone has a positive energy, and the excitement in the air is very tangible. Haters gonna hate, but this is the closest thing we have in real life to Santa Claus delivering presents all over the world in one night. I remember when I got my iphone 6 via preorder, which was relatively recently after they started online orders at all. While reading the stories of excited customers online, my phone was delivered to my office smack in the middle of launch day.

They definitely have their issues, but I can't think of any other company that makes such an effort to get phones in the hands of their customers ON launch day. While mine isn't coming until mid November, I'm still enjoying the excitement.

I am really wishing I had ordered the silver model at this point. Not only would I have received it sooner, but I think the polished stainless steel looks awesome!

Oh well, such is life.
