Sounds like it's all software based. Can you replicate the issue with other things besides the birds?

LEGO, birds, cocky items, cans etc

I’ve only had the issue with the lovebird, which is why I was thinking it had a weird software component. there’s no physical reason for the body to be in focus, but the face to have an artificial bokeh blur
