You seem to be failing to grasp that this isn’t a shipment from Apple, it’s from Carphone Warehouse. DPD may know it’s an iPhone, or they may not, but if the sender says collect from depot is available then they allow it to be selected in the app. The mistake here is entirely down to Carphone Warehouse.

Correct, no convincing needed. And DPD can’t be to blame (see my post on this) as there is no way they could have known it was an iPhone in the sealed bag?

So I had the exact same issue as you. Received the CPW SMS last night booked in collection first thing 8am, however when I turned up I was immediately asked for two pieces of ID and my name, when I provided this they said it didnt match up to the parcel.

Then the guy said "oh hang on, did you have this sent to a shop? Yes I see whats happened, you shouldn't have been able to arrange redelivery for this item because the original recipient was a store manager at the shop, therefore the ID you have will not match it, so I cant release it to you, but I can get it on a van today so it goes out to the store and you can collect from there"

So while you've not done anything wrong, it does sound like someones given you something they shouldn't have given you. Nice result though!

The girl looked and checked my ID which was photo ID and a bill. The packaging also had my name and address on strangely especially as I originally had for store pick up. Maybe when I changed to depot last night a new label was produced.

Read every post in the thread and it was clear that some things were not being grasped by some posters. Seems like I could ask the same question of you.

LOL! Yes, in 'the story of my life...' THE BOOK:

- 'I ordered an iPhone once, and do you know, I managed to get it one day earlier than everybody else!'
- 'No grandpa, really?'
- 'Yes I did... and you know what, it was exactly the same experience as the time I got it on the SAME day everyone else did!'
- 'Wow Grandpa, what a life you've lived!'

:D

Love it!

But seriously, so many people here are concerned with when they get their gadget. An ‘accomplishment’ that is not only fleeting but astonishing in the vacuous triviality of it all.

Reading some of these people talking about how ‘excited’ they are is actually sad, because there are some of them who have replaced more meaningful life experiences and accomplishments with obtaining a gadget.

As a result, pre-order customers in the U.K. will probably start trying their luck at DPD collection depots throughout the country, however the incident is highly unusual and unlikely to be replicated.

I work a student job in logistics, you can bet your bum it is.

People have no idea how much of extra effort this really is.

Isn’t activation blocked until tomorrow?

So they just got a brick for a day. Yay?

What about reviewers and others out that have had the iPhone X for up to or even over a week now? Seems if one had an iPhone X one day or even 7 days early it would activate and work.

Strange thing is mine went from the U.S. to Toronto Ontario Canada which is way east. I live in Vancouver BC, the west coast. Seems odd and less likely I'll get it by tomorrow. :(
