After buying many different glass protectors and returning to Amazon because they’re rubbish, I had the Spigen GLAS TR EZ fit glass protector for my XS Max delivered today.

By far the best glass protector I’ve ever used. Perfect clarity, perfect fit, so easy to install and curved edges

Bought a croc skin from secondskin (secondskin.io, no affiliation!) for my XR. Also currently rocking an anker screen protector which has proven to be good value so far. Most screen protectors seem the same to me so if I see a 'reputable' brand at a discount on Amazon that's good enough for me.

I never open my device until I have a screen protector. That way the screen protector is the first thing I put on, which eliminates all dust.

Because of this, do I need to bother wiping down the display? I think not, because the wipes can leave particles, but I thought I double-check just in case the wipe down helps with the adhesive of the screen protector. Thanks!

If you haven't touched the display or don't see any smudges, then you can skip the wiping. But regardless, you should use stickers or some tape to remove any dust. I don't know why people skip this step and thin a simple wipe will eliminate all of the dust.

Thanks for the advice! Usually, when I apply a protector, I put it on straight after I have opened my device for the first time. I also do it the bathroom after I have had a shower, so all the dirt and dust is floating in the air because of the steam. So there's no dust on the display. Using a wipe usually adds particles.

But I guess the best thing is to see how it's like. If the display has dirt then wipe it. If not, then go straight to the protector.

I agree the steamy bathroom helps the dust settle down. I usually wipe down the screen with glass cleaner and a paper towel. Next I take a lint roller to the screen to get every last piece of dust off. Most protectors now have the alignment plastic that makes it easy to get the protector on perfectly. You just need to make sure the screen is completely clean and dust free.

With all of that said, if the screen is pristine clean, then just put that protector on.

I wouldn’t do this.

A glass cleaner will impact the oleophobic coating (in case you decide to remove the protector in future) & a paper towel is a big no-no, as it can introduce swirls....always use a good quality microfibre cloth & just water to clean smears etc.

Can you all suggest me a glass screen protector that sticks very well? Since last November, I've changed 3 screen protectors (2 belkin invisiglass thing and one from amazon). Within 2 months they all got bubbles on the left side starting from the same point. Now, I have applied the 4th one about 2 months ago and yesterday it started to get bubble from the same spot again.

Should I change my case also? I've been using the same case since the beginning.

What case? Sounds like it’s the reason for your screen protectors lifting.

I can recommend the Belkin Tempered Curve screen protector, but I can’t guarantee it’ll play nicely with your case...

I'm using this case from ESR; https://amzn.to/2LF9PE1

Also, I bought an Apple leather case and another screen protector from different brand yesterday. Gonna check with them also.

I only use the paper towel as my microfiber cloths always leave tiny lint dust, no matter what type I use - even those especially made for glass and screens. Yeah the glass cleaner isn’t a great idea and I don’t use it except for when applying a screen protector -leaves a super clean surface.

Originally, I clean my new screens with iKlear brand cleaner and microfiber cloths but always end up with micro scratches and the oleophobic coating wears off where I swipe up from the middle bottom. I’m super careful but this is why I’ll put on the screen protector. And I also usually swap out screen protectors every 4 months or so.

Do you mean the one that convers the whole screen ?

My XR screen protector has a stain, so I need to remove and replace it. Any tips for removing it? Will it remove any coating on the XR screen. It's a Spigen one. On their website site, it says that their protectors are designed with a special silicone adhesive that won't leave any marks, so I guess it should be okay.

Also does anyone have any experience with Anti-Glare tempered glass protectors for XR. There's quite a few on Amazon UK, but they all seem to have rubbish reviews (or aren't full coverage). I was thinking of getting a good quality regular (non-Anti-glare) tempered glass one and then putting Anti-Glare film on top. Would that make the screen to thick for touches to register?

Yeah, don’t do that.

Not only will it thicken the phone considerably, you’ll almost certainly introduce touch inconsistencies.

Also, Anti-glare protectors were ok for early iPhones, but these days, iPhones are bright enough to use in sunlight, so they’re kind of redundant. Plus, with the gorgeous, high res screens we have now, why diminish the detail with an anti-glare protector?

Just look for a crystal clear glass protector with a lasting oleophobic coating & you should be good.

Thanks! All the crystal Clear protectors I have found reflect light which is annoying. Is there anything I can do to make them less reflective?

Are the iPhone XS and iPhone 11 Pro screens the exact same size? Asking for screen protectors and cases.

The 11 Pro is about 0.4 mm thicker, taller and wider. Honestly, you can either try for yourself or wait until others report. Screen protector compatibility should be fine, but not sure about cases, I feel like they won't be compatible.

Correct, it requires reengineering mostly due to the cameras.
