Update on my order. I ordered at 3:17am Eastern the day of the launch. I had been trying since 3:01am of course, but it took that long to get in. My order was scheduled to arrive Nov 17-24. I got an email today saying it shipped. The expected arrival date is Nov 10th by end of day. So, 1 week after the launch? Awesome. I have a feeling Apple had an extra factory or two ready to go in case demand was high, and when it was high... they opened them up. It's possible they cranked out extra iPhone 8 and 8 plus models ahead of time so they could go all-in on X production to get these in the hands of anybody who wants one before Christmas.

Update - as my date had actually moved backwards I checked our local Apple store and found they had a supply of Verizon 256 Space Gray in stock this morning. With some effort, I cancelled my useless on-line pre-order / drove down and picked it up (10 minute transaction) - and activated it with Verizon.

What a mess with issues cancelling my order (email notification received and order cancelled per the Apple site - but still could not reserve one under my phone number. So I had to purchase with my wife's number and swap things around when I got home.

Congrats to those who had success with the pre-order. For me it was a poorly designed, screwed up mess. Never again me thinks.

My phone did arrive yesterday, 2 weeks early. Seems like even people who had pre order issues were able to visit a store and get one, so I guess Apple was able to massively ramp up production. I’m typing this on my new iPhone and am very happy with it so far!

I am having a weird iPhone X shipping issue, which I hope someone can make sense of. Ordered at about 3:15 AM ET on October 27th. Given a shipping date of between 11/17 and 11/24. Happily got notification the 10th that it had shipped. But Apple says it won’t arrive til the 21st, even as UPS says it will arrive by end of day on Thursday, 11/16.

That discrepancy is weird, the length of time it’s taking to get from China to where I live is beyond any previous order I’ve made, including iMacs and MacBooks. Weirder still: it arrived in Louisville, KY yesterday AM - Sunday, November 12 - and hasn’t left. Apple says there is a delay and won’t get here til the 21st. UPS is still holding to end of day Thursday, 11/16. But Louisville is approximately 400 miles from where I live. Anyone have similar experiences? What gives?

I had a weird discrepancy like that too. At first, UPS was showing 11/10 as the projected delivery date. Then on the 8th it was showing as if the package was still somewhere in Korea and changed my projected date to 11/15. However, on the morning of the 10th, a ton of updates showed up on the UPS tracking page, the last of which was that it was out for delivery in my local area that morning. So I got the package on the 10th.
