Can hardly understand a word he's saying but Friday can't come quick enough! That does look slick! And the camera obviously blends in with the black.

Looks very stealthy and very black. Not sure why they even bother calling it space gray. I was worried based on all the pictures online, but this video makes it clear that it's pretty much jet black

I hope it looks more black, but there is a video (the French reviewer) that clearly shows the back as being gray. I suppose it all just depends on the lighting. It will prob look close to black in most lighting, but when you have a bright light on the back at the right angle, you will see the gray.

Also, the name descriptors may be attached to the bezel and not the backplate. The back of the Silver phone is definitely more White than silver.

Oh no, not that dull gray under strong light like the 8/8+. 😡

I'm not sure what dull gray color you are seeing here. The Ellen kid video seems pretty brightly lit and that black is dark enough to show his hand in the reflection.

OTOH, it doesn‘t look very black in this scene. Note how much blacker the actually black camera bump looks here.

Here's another one. Yuck. For those of you who hate that notch? Man, it sticks out even more like a sore thumb on the space grey since it's more of a blended "seamless" design. Glad I went with the silver.

Oh wow, and the silver’s notch is not as noticeable? Amazing how the mind can trick and convince you sometimes.

PVD coatings can wear off...they've been used on watches...this is nothing new. Example below. Unless you know how to do PVD coating yourself, once it's scratched...you're screwed. No polish can fix it.

Oh please...The band can scratch, regardless of material, if you don’t take care of your phone and bang it around.

The silver one in particular easily scratches from simply cleaning/wiping it.

Exactly...

It's actually not the same material...if you're talking about the space black. That's a stronger coating than the one used here.
It could be the same coating as they use for the watch. Theyˋre both PVD

Unlikely. For the watch you pay a premium for the DLC coating over the plain stainless steel version. It would seem strange if it was a free extra on the phone. I think also the colour is fixed for DLC isn’t it, and the phone is lighter than the watch ?

thanks for the link, other than reviews, I have personally never taken out the instructions, the brick, cable, headphones, etc. when I get a new phone, watch, ipad. Since I just use my existing accessories. I was quite surprised to see that stickers and sim removal tool included with the iphone X.

Just curious if anyone else does this?

I do not think the 8 and X are the same color at least not the sides and maybe not the backs either. After seeing the 8 in person a few times and seeing videos online I just think the X is blacker and glossier than the 8.
