I don't get unboxing videos, it's kind of like watching someone play a video game.

I do like a quick roundup of what's new on the phone, but I don't care about what's in the box. I mean, stickers? The power brick? Just show me the damn phone!

Always seemed condescending to me. And clearly biased towards Goog. But if he's your hero I still wouldn't hold my breathe. Someone could've tipped him about the thread.

Far from my hero. I just thought it was interesting he has nothing better to do than look at MacRumors, like the rest of us. :D

I watch his videos more for the quality of them, rather than what he's actually saying. He's definitely biased but at the same time will avoid saying anything really negative about any of the 'big boys' through fear of losing access to review units. Apple have been known to cut off anybody who doesn't provide an overwhelmingly positive review. He's too family friendly in that respect, and will always avoid making any subjective comments or criticisms.

Also kinda rubbed me up the wrong way when he was going on about how the YouTube 'Adpocalypse' didn't affect him. It didn't affect him because YouTube love him and he never says anything controversial. Sometimes it gets tiring listening to someone who is merely reading a carefully written script than actually saying anything of substance or personal opinion.

Did anyone catch Marques mention the MacRumors thread where the guy asked if his girlfriend could unlock his iPhone X while he's asleep? Meaning Marques probably frequents these forums...LET'S FIND HIM.
I don't think that was a reference to Macrumors specifically. I've seen the question about girlfriends unlocking your phone in a few places.

I have been with Apple since 1982. The promotion of iphone-envy is about to completely turn me off from Apple phones.
May be semantics, but it seems to me that it’s the iPhone, not the envy, that being promoted by these unboxers. The envy is the result, felt by those vulnerable to it.

Regardless, I think these unboxing videos are the world biggest yawn. In addition to thorough reviews, do we really also need this footage? [/rhetorical]

Is anybody else shocked by the difference in picture quality of the front-facing cam between the X and the Pixel 2? The Pixel 2 really makes the X cam look like crap.

Can you link an early comparison?

The difference was pretty significant to me. Pixel looked much crisper, especially at 4:40 in the MKBHD video, the back pack straps were miles apart.

Maybe my senior years are catching up with me cause the examples on the home page bore me. I could not care less about stickers, info packets, or any of the other goodies in the box. SHOW ME THE iPHONE ! and make it quick.

So we have to have 10 vloggers unpack a box that looks almost exactly the same as all the other iphones over the least ten years? It's a disgrace that a $1000-$1500 phone has a **** 5W charger from 2007 still in it and a USB cable that can't even be plugged into a Mac from the last two, three years. But hey. Nice to "see it unboxed"

Watching someone play a video game be fun too, it's just more fun actually getting to play the game yourself. That's how I see unboxing video's, although I wouldn't call it 'Fun', perhaps intrigued would be the word I use.

very true. The production quality of his videos are off the charts. I don't know if he is really good at editing or has a top of the line camera setup (or both) but his video always have a class that a lot don't do or try to hard to become. There are some reviewers that try to imitate a one on one experience with the viewer by setting up a coach, or by being in a cafe. For some reason that always kinda took me out of the review.

I don't think he edits by himself anymore. Pretty sure he hired a couple of guys/graphic artists to do the title sequences and editing.
