Yeah - why would we be unhappy to go the wrong way in innovation. Everything should take longer and longer to do.

We're too rushed in today's society. I hope the next evolution of FaceId requires double click, facial recognition, and also you have to make a certain
Uh huh. This bizarre tangent just belies a total lack of actual personal experience using Face ID.

Apple seems to be looking good to shareholders and customers. iphone 7 and 8 are not the same, except for the physical dimensions. But to each their own opinion.

And iphone x is not the same either. But if this logic is to be applied equally. Samsung galaxy 6,7,8 and note 7 and 8 are all the same as well.

It's just been super obvious what Apple's been doing, they withold something until the NEXT model, and people are mind blown when it comes it.

Yes, I agree with you it's a personal opinion, but to me the iPhone X has nothing to offer me as a user.

And I would add that it now has more setbacks than it does advantages. If the iPhone 7/8 still had the headphone jack it would be nice to have the added internal specs.

Of course Apple likes to push the bar with removing things, but at some point they've got to be more practical.

Yes headphone jacks aren't ideal, but the majority of people with stereos, etc. still have an RCA input so having to carry around an adapter is not very slick.

Same things with the recent MBP's, cool, all type-c ports but 99% of people still use usb 2 and 3 devices, thumb drives, etc. so again with the burden of carrying around adapters.

It's almost a slap in the face just so their products look good in photos.

I have a much simpler view and couldn't care less about Apple's nefarious strategy, as you laid it out. At the point I want to buy, is there a product that to me is worth buying? For the iphone X the answer to the previous question is yes. But you have a point and have to decide if apple is really for you.

I usually double-tap as I'm pulling it out of my pocket, then set it straight on the reader – where I watch it authenticate. No need to awkwardly look at your phone, wait for it to authenticate, then set it on the reader. If someone's in front of you in line, you could use your waiting time to pre-authenticate – it might make it half a second faster for people behind you. But Face ID works well at full arm distance while sitting on the reader. In fact, for me I'd say that it's usually been more reliable at a comfortable distance from my face, where it has a wide enough field of view to take my full face in.
