Well I flew on a plane with a galaxy note 8 in Europe. It’s the galaxy note 7 that was banned because that phone did have an issue with exploding. The note 8 and S8 do not have the same issues and can be taken on planes.
Note 8 has a new issue. Not widespread or dangerous but, just shows batteries can cause issues regardless of manufacturer.
Some Samsung Note 8 owners are experiencing battery issues - Cult of Mac https://apple.news/AJvHyYtBSRVSpqmgjjOFSBw

One thing I was worried about with the Galaxy's was how fragile they seemed to be. I have read a few reports about the Note 8/S8 cracking in pockets, etc, which was a little concerning. I think this all revolves around the rounded edges of the Note/S8 that make the design more susceptible to it. Have you had any issues OP? I know no matter how much I try, my phones take a tumble here and there, figured with the X I would be safer in that respect. Hell, I dropped my X (with a minimal case) twice just yesterday onto hard wood floor from a high height and it survived unscathed, color me impressed

Had the S8 for a few months. Got it mostly for the design and screen. Loved it at first, thought I would never go back but here I back using my 6s+. Its telling that my 2 year old 6s+ is smoother and performs even better in some areas than the S8. Like I said it was great at first but then the usual Samsung/Android quirks started. UI hiccups and stutters, apps crashing, etc. Also the longer I was with android the more I appreciated the App store and iOS apps in general which are higher quality compared to the Android versions. Lastly, the curved screen, while pretty, was very hard to protect and caused glare when watching videos. All and all a great device it just wasn't for me. Will be upgrading to the X soon.

My friend and one of my co-workers both cracked their S8's since they had it. Both of them said it was the first time they ever cracked a phone. Yes its very fragile even with a case.

Interesting, I think I made the right choice with the X, hearing and seeing the more fragile nature of the Galaxy infinite screens. Even though it may not happen to me, just another thing I'd rather not have to worry about happening.

Awesome at exploding??? Take note that most Airports from asia and europe does not allowed someone to fly on a plane if your using an Samsung Galaxy Note cuz they might take lives hundreds of people if it explode while on the plane.. iPhone are much safer

I have an iPhone X, but it is really time to move on from the Note 7 history.

Yea cause we hear reports of Samsun devices exploding every day

I would choose Galaxy S8 instead of Iphone!

Since it comes with an Android OS, it helps me to use as many apps I want. There are tons of applications that we can easily use on Android for better productivity, and enhancements.

For galaxy S8 users, use this list- http://androidcure.com/top-apps-samsung-galaxy-s8-plus/ to find out some useful apps to get started with your phone.

Cheers!

I bought the S8 a couple of weeks back. It’s a great phone, the design is smiles ahead of the 8. It’s fast, the camera is amazing in low light. It has incredibly fast auto focus which results in a far greater success rate in getting the shots I want. All the same, I may well switch back to an iPhone as I seem to be locked in to the eco system too deep. It’s 50/50 at the moment.

Exactly how I feel.

that is the problem I struggle with (first world problem of course). I have the Note 8 and the iPhone 8+. The hardware on the Note 8 is superior...hands down. but the ecosystem of apple...just too hard to stay away. I might finally make a decision and drop the Note...I am sure with regret.

Same problem I have although I am not too wrapped in the eco system. I miss apples simplicity and the Apple Watch.

When I take a photo on my phone, it shows up on my iPad, Mac and Apple TV without me having to do anything else.

I can share photo albums and can drop a photo into an album (from my iPhone, Mac or iPad) and they all are synced.

I can buy cloud storage for backups, photos, etc. and have that shared so all family members can use it.

I can use Find my friends to know where my family members are when we are going to meet somewhere.

When I get a text on my phone, I can reply from my iPad (with keyboard) or Mac.

Apps purchased on my iPhone can be shared across family members.

For me, when it comes to “ecosystem” it’s also that it incorporates not just me but other family members that it integrates with.

I’m sure I could do something with Google Photos, but it seems like it would be more difficult managing photos and albums and it’s always an extra app to install and then having to sync.

There’s a lot of little things too, like when I went to set up my iPhone 8, I can restore the backup from my 7 and go through a few screens to set up fingerprint etc and away I go. I’ve never been able to set up a new android device to have it be an exact copy of my last phone. It’s always redownloading apps, setting up accounts again, etc. etc. I can even set up a new iPad using my lPhone backup to so I don’t have to set that stuff up.

So it’s not just about the ecosystem of Apple Services (like photos, messages, etc) but also about how their hardware devices all interact. My Airpods auto connect to my iPhone and iPad for example.

All that can perceived as unique cool even but me personally I do not see a need to sync my photos and apps and everything to multiple devices or with family members.

Wish I could find a use for all those things and find my friends and all that stuff makes the iPhone a very sociable device, but not something I need.

The X is as fragile as S8/S8+. To think otherwise is just waiting for a crack screen to happen. And which cost TWICE as much to repair compared to S8. Go figure.
