I was going to upgrade my X to a 14 Pro, but the tumor of a camera bump thats been floating around for the 14 Pro will now have me waiting for the 15 Pro. I already hate the minimal bump on my X and the insanity that is projected to be the 14 Pro is a total non-starter for me. All those flush camera rumors really got my hopes up.
You do know what the camera bump is for right? Would you rather have a crappy camera, or a flush camera? The only way around this is to make the phone thicker, which I assume you would hate also…..

Besides, most people put the phone in a bulky case anyway which hides this. I never understood why people complain about this kind of thing…

The LIDAR focus assist looks like the best new-for-me feature to me. I really like my iPhone 11, but I wouldn’t pass up a low light focus improvement. A mag safe charger does work with the 11, BTW. You do have to align it carefully though 🍸😺

You should figure out a way to accept camera bumps because they aren't going anywhere. The SE2 is the closest you will get to a flush camera.

iPhones are getting a little too thick. When I hold my phone next to newer ones, it's super thin (and I have a case on it).
I have all Siri features off (including Spotlight features and each "learn from this app" for each apps) and some other features and it is working as good as new!

I'll be waiting for port change.

I’m still rocking an iPhone X. Battery swelled up a year and a half ago so I had to replace it, and since I play a lot of Pokémon go, it’s on its way out again. Signal is sometimes an issue and my nephew spilled tea into the earpiece so calls sound muffled. I’m well overdue an upgrade.
Yep things like loss of signal (or not supporting upgraded networks) have started to get really bad on my X. There are some areas where it is unusable.

This past year the software and apps have really started pass it by and take their toll on performance as well. Lots of crashes and the phone heating up with processor intensive apps.

There was no mention of the RAM in the article. That is a HUGE factor now. Almost every app completely reloads on the X now when opening from the background.

Ceramic shield: is it just me or the iPhone 13 Pro Max has a much worse display than previous iPhones? I never had any screen protector on my phones and took good care of the phones and the a screen was always perfect. My iPhone 13 Pro Max display looks like it has been in a war zone. There are scratches everywhere and I took the same care of my previous phones.

HOWEVER, the only thing I really want/care about is tupe C charging. I know apple isn’t going to have a choice soon, but it still as yet hasn’t happened. I’m probably going to get a refurb iPhone 11/10s in the meantime. Sorry apple, but no type C, no deal. I’m sick of lightning, and this change should have happened YEARS ago….
Same happened to me with my iPhone X. The battery swelled up just at the start of the pandemic and the screen started detaching - but Apple replaced mine for me free of charge after I brought it in store. (One of the reasons, I love Apple - they didn't need to, but the tech at the Apple store did - and I really appreciated that).

I bought my X on release day, five years ago, and it's been a great and capable phone. However I do plan on upgrading to a 14 Pro as soon as orders open. One thing I'm looking forward to is the upgraded camera. The quality of pictures that I can get on the X are nowhere near the quality that friends of mine get who have newer iPhones...

It's actually going to be an expensive time for me: I plan on upgrading my Series 4 Apple Watch, and my AirPods Pros to the new ones, too!

3D touch has been out for a while, since iOS 13. Sad, really, 3D touch was much better than haptic. I used it all the time. I hope they'll add it back one day!

It was better for sure, but people for the most part didn’t use it and it required an extra layer on the display,

Haptic Touch does fine.

Appreciated this article. Will likely replace my current iPhone X in the next year or two and have been looking for a good concise comparison of the iPhone X vs anticipated iPhone 14 Pro specs. I didn’t realize how many major technical improvements have occurred the past 5 years.

I’ve had my iPhone X since it first came out. My previous iPhones included the Original, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 6. The iPhone X has been an absolute gem over the years. Replaced the battery during the peak of the pandemic, but that’s the only glitch I’ve experienced. A real sweet iPhone.

I think if you have an iPhone 5 or iPhone 8, it will be worth it to upgrade to iPhone 14 Pro Max this year. There are some major changes next year, and might have teething issues.

If you have iPhone XR or better, I think you can wait another year.
I have my trusty iPhone 7 plus, and honestly haven't seen a need to upgrade. It does everything I need it to with pretty amazing speed. Sorry, Apple, I can live without the flashiest, shiniest device.

Why are we versing a phone that doesn't even exist on the market exactly? April Fools.. in July 😂

Please see my review of the Samsung S95C OLED vs 2019 QLED. 🤦‍♂️
