Nah-
A stable OS on a new model iPhone is not just 4 months away. More like 11.

Sure- 4 months from now new iPhone hardware will be available-- but it's going to run on beta software (iOS 12) for 6 months until Apple irons out all the myriad of new bugs. The time to buy any new iPhone is when the OS hits .3. That's usually in the spring. Wasting time with beta testing a quirky, laggy new iOS for 6 months (not to mention all the wasted time downloading & installing endless bug fixes after another) is for the birds.

Exactly. I've been upgrading around feb/march time. Also, due to not having the new one in-stock between Oct-Dec or with 4-6 lead times. #overit

Got mine today! 64GB silver.

God if it didn't cost so much the 256 in silver but the 64gb is fine. The only reason why I filled up my 128GB iPhone was movies. have about 30GB left and its fine for me.

If I'm not mistaken wouldn't he have to pay for icloud because that is way over 5gb, who wants to pay more per month.

Lol My photos take up 4.2GB and when I had an iPad and an iPhone I would have both backups take up about 5GB total.

I overdid it on memory. I could easily fill up my 64GB iPhone 6+, so I spring for the 256GB Space Gray unlocked model.

I'm having some difficulty adjusting to it, not because of the lack of a home button, but because I no longer need to wait before every tap on the screen to do anything.

I got space grey 64gb.
I like a white front bezel normally but considering the front is the same on both it didn't really matter as I'll always have a colour case on back anyway

Is 64gb enough?

When you use Apple Music and have a large library collection I need to opt for 256 right?

I keep reading people say that they 'save on icloud' so 64gb is sufficient. You can't upload music on iCloud can you? What can you save on iCloud that will save you space?

Go to Setting > General > iPhone Storage...this will show how much space all your data is using up & have a break down of the most storage-consuming Apps.

You can access all your music on iCloud to save space. This works by matching your music with their equivalent titles in Apple's database - be warned though; Apple's database isn't always accurate & you may find your more obscure tracks showing up as live versions or alt versions, with different cover art...this has been happening for a while, but it gets better over time...anyway, be warned.

So if you then enable iCloud Music Library, it frees up all the space your music takes up on your Phone.

You can always download music to your phone, so you don't need to stream it from iCloud all the time....say if you're in a poor cellular area, or you're flying international & want to listen to tunes on the plane (many airlines don't have wifi).

The data your music uses on iCloud isn't a part of the iCloud Storage plans (5GB, 50GB, 200GB, 2TB), so you don't need to worry about it using that data allowance.

Hey thanks for the reply

I basically lost my phone so I need to buy one now if not I would have waited till a years time of so for the next iPhone which is to be released which is why I can't wait.
I am debating whether to get the iPhone X 64/256 or the red iPhone 8 plus 64/256. I had the 8 plus which was fine before I lost it but since I am buying this one outright I was thinking maybe going for the X.
How do you find the X by the way? I have heard the battery life isn't too great on it. Did you get the 64gb model?

Ahh debating which one to get

Feel silly buying one now when a new one will be released in a few months but I need a new phone.
I am in the same situation as I left mine in a rental car last week and it hasn't been found yet. I was thinking of doing the upgrade program so I could at least switch to the newest model in December.

Problem solved. Just got a replacement SIM card and I'm using an old iPhone 5 for now. I can live with this for a few months...I think.

Ahhh I need to go for one

I can't wait as I don't have any phone at the moment....also by the time the new iPhone is released there is no guarantee that I will get it right away due to how crazy the pre orders are and I am not queuing overnight for a phone lol. It could be till December till I can get my hands on a new one.

I would Base you’re decision mainly on if you prefer Touch ID or Face ID. Two different phones, but Both share similar internals. Something else to consider, However, the Product Red iPhone will likely be discontinued when the new iPhones launch in September Being its limited.

Thats true
the product red8 plus is also slightly cheaper but since I am getting the phone to last me a couple of years I was thinking maybe going with the X. Ideally I would have preferred to have waited till the new phones come out but as I lost my 8plus so have to fork out on a new one.

I cannot imagine that if you bought the X, that you ever ever ever be thinking, maybe I should have bought the 8 instead.

Just walked out of the store with a 256GB space gray X. Last iphone i had was a 6S and boy have things changed. i find my self googling a lot of stuff. Going to play with it and download some how to videos. I had a S8+ and i hated some things about it really bad. bix key, the volume warning every single time you restarted your phone it would re set the warning so when you go to your music and up the volume pass a point it would give you this BS warning about how you could damage your ears. and other small things. Hated the message app and the phone was to big.

Why did i not wait for the new ones?

*Im not a [H] core phone user.
*Did not want to wait for a few more months for the latest and greatest.
*Don't care about the notch.
*Don't do VR
*wanted to come back to apple NOW.

There is a learning curve to be sure.

It’s also shocking the device is *only* really 8 months old. It feels like forever ago now. And probably only 2 more months before a new iPhone. But November shipping and September announcement, the next one is somehow “already” around the bend

Tl;dr - enjoy!

Regardless what reasons to not waiting for the new one in September, you should have waited 2 more months for similar design and lower price with some updates.

Why Are you telling @menizzi they “Should have waited” when they made the conscious decision to upgrade and they Clearly stated why they chose to _Not_ wait for the new iPhones. I’m not sure why you would insinuate to wait when they are more than content with their current decision.

Debating between the iPhone X or iPhone 8 plus in red.

Couldn’t take the iPhone 5 any more. I’m in a new city and really need a good phone for navigation and figuring things out.

I got the 8+ in red. Love it. Coming from the 6S and more recently the 5, it’s a nice upgrade. The pinnacle of the gen 3 iPhone. I had no idea that Touch ID was soo much better now as I’ve never used anything beyond the 6s. This was a good compromise that will hold me over until I pick up an XI plus or whatever they have next year.
