But, its all really the same if you think about it. I have the max and mine last's all day. I am a heavy user. 7am-10pm (8 hours of screen time) regardless of what percentage you have left when you go to bed. You have to plug it in. So as long as it last's till you go to bed you're good. No one is going to leave it not charging when they go to bed cause they have 40% left. Then you're screwed the next day. So when it all comes down to it, all of ours will last a day for what we need it for.

except you tweekers out there that need all night coverage, then XR is your phone...:)

Not for me though. I’ve come from an iPhone 7 with 82% battery capacity. That thing would need another charge around 5pm sometimes even earlier. It was really annoying. This is a welcome change.

True but I think there are plenty of situations outside the norm where more battery life could be important. Travel, airports, concerts, camping, etc.

I do confirm, battery life is great, in fact it is the better I ever had on any iPhone (including XS max)
On my first charge, XR last 40hours and more than 8 hours of on screen time.

It's awesome. I have had 50% or more left at the end of the day, and I'm playing a lot of TwoDots :D I probably have had 6-7 hours or screen time since I bought it.

I even calibrated the battery because I though my numbers were off. They weren't.

First work day with device and had the weekend to let dust settle/ index.

4 hour SOT, 60% left. Been off the hook since like 7:30 am. 13 hours later.

90% of that was LTE too

what in the heck?!? Thats on projection to be like iPad levels or some'n. I don't even wanna know what its like with low power mode :D

Granted I didn't have an XS Max, or an 8plus, came from X (still have it) but DANGGGG

specially coming from a 7plus that drained battery just looking at it twice on iOS 11

I hope Apple is taking note we care about battery life.

Can confirm...
Switched from 7 to XR. Typically, by this time in day, 7 had ~50% of battery left. XR has 75%. Now, 7 had 90% battery capacity left, true, but still, this is improvement. And I think I was using the XR bit more than 7 typically. New toy. So, yes, better battery life in real conditions is probably true.

I can’t really tell since I set mine down on my charging puck a lot during the day. Gotta love wireless charging! :D

How much better is it compared to your XS Max? Did you have an X as well? If so how much does that compare?

How much better is it compared to your X? I have one and I'm thinking of switching to the XR for battery life.

can confirm as well. i have the Max which is what i’m sticking with. They’re very close, both comfortably full day to 1.5 days each. XR gets ~1 hour additional screen on time while standby is similar.

In my couple days of testing MUCH better imo

8plus is better than x at battery and apple
Markets 1.5 more hours than that on max and Xr

  • iPhone XS Max: 3,174 mAh
  • iPhone XR: 2,942 mAh
Factor in that xs max powers a really high resolution OLED and Xr powers more power efficient lcd to boot and lower resolution (not even 1080p! 868p but the panel in my unit is pretty nice) and you can see how this is possible and not just folk tale

Results will be great! I like having more breathing room and width compared to x while using the phone. Doesn’t feel as “glove like” in my hand as x but that’s the trade off

There also isn’t as drastic tint shift imo but it’s probably panel dependent. Saw some drastic shift on verge’s review unit

...still don’t think I’m tossing my x until it gets closer to another refresh next year because I do appreciate its jailbroken stainless steel oled and dual cams and thinned bezels but

The Xr is much nicer than I expected tbh

It replaced my 7plus as a secondary / rotation / backup phone. I can see it being my primary for a while but I like options :p

Switched my daily to the XR when I got it coming from an XS and the battery life is outstanding. I finally only have to charge the phone once during the day to keep it going. It's beating out my Max and Note9 so far.

It has a 2942 mAh battery, making it the second-highest capacity battery in an iPhone after the XS Max, which has a 3174 mAh.

For an iPhone, the Xʀ has a very big battery. Combined with the relatively low display resolution, it’s no wonder that it’s the battery life king.

How in the HECK???

Explain to me the small caps??? How do I do it on my iPhone???

Sorry, but I have seriously been googling this crap for days and I must be googling wrong lol...

Hoping to get they day with it. I just ordered my black Xr thru work (corporate phone) and should be here Friday. I am still using my 6s with Apple battery case and during a day I can get to about 3 -4pm between both devices. If I’m driving i always plug in to get a lil extra juice.

The wireless aspect doesn’t really excite me that much but fast charging does. I will be all in on the usb-c/ bricks to get as much juice as quick as I can. Plus a really good car phone charger. I’m in sales and on phone a lot.

If I could get to 9pm on 1 full charge, it would be awesome. I charge every night when sleeping.

The people making critical comments about screen? Have you seen it in person? It’s a very good screen. My XS screen doesn’t blow it away. TT performs better on XR IMO.

I found the small caps characters and saved it as a text replacement shortcut in the keyboard settings. My phone auto-corrects XR or xr to Xʀ. Just copy this and add it to text replacement:

The battery life is blowing me away. My 7 would be dead by 4pm if I didn’t charge it while at work. Now I have about 40% at the end of the night without charging throughout the day. Put my charging cord at work and in my truck away for good.

That's how my 7 was like back in its early days (with iOS 10).
