iPhone XR iPhone XR battery life is insane [MERGED]

Anyone coming from an iPhone X? How much better is the battery life? I'm thinking of getting the XR for it's battery life.

Somebody above said it lasts twice as much.

I’m sure a XS would last much more than a X too. But of course XR would last even longer.

There's no way it can last twice as much. The X can have a screen on time of up to 8-10 hours according to my testing. That's mostly Reddit, WhatsApp, casual web browsing etc.

There's no way the XR can last for 16-20 hours of screen on time.

A X doesn’t really do 8-10 hrs. Not on iOS 12.

If you’re talking of real world mixed usage (4G plus Wifi) assuming there are 0 calls and only actual screen usage, a X can do 5-6 hrs over a 12-15 hr period.

A XS should do 7-8+ hrs over a 24 hr period.

A XS Max maybe 1 hr more.

A XR maybe an additional 1-2 hrs over that.

I'm on iOS 12 and if you're being careful, you can hit 9+ hours. I'll send some screenshots if I can find. I restore my phone's using iTunes and set them up as new, so there is nothing draining the battery.

The XS doesn't have that much better battery life when compared to the X. Most people see a difference because the X's battery capacity has gone down over the year. They're comparing a used battery vs a new one.

Case in point. This guy tests a new iPhone X with an XS and XS Max. There's only a 10 minute difference between the X and the XS.

Realistically, the XR should have 1.5-2 hours more battery life than the X. I'm not sure though, that's why I asked the people who switched from an X to an XR. Then again, it should come from people with X's that have good battery health and no weird iOS battery drains. Otherwise it's not fair.

There are other tests where a XS is a lot better.

The graphs 12 shows you are inaccurate. You need to do a screen time test yourself. The 10 day battery graphs are all wrong. I’ve tested it.

The X's in other tests probably had low battery health.

I manually count the bars for each hour after disconnecting it from the charger. Its a bit of work, but it's accurate.

I do the same. If you do a lot of calling you can get 8 hrs SOT. Maybe more. Without any calling maybe 5-6 hrs. It really depends. My health is 98%.

With low power mode you’ll get an additional 15-20%.

Also, SOT isn’t accurate. Everything from calls to background usage are under SOT. Screen Off time is always 0 or nearly 0.

Battery life is pretty excellent. Have a max too and it is pretty great battery life too. Interested to see how it handles this upcoming weekend of heavy usage and little WiFi!

I’m on first charge so indexing plus an iOS update and I’m at almost 70% with over 4 hours of on-screen time. This should be ‘horrible’ battery life period.

So the XR came off the charger at about 2:30 yesterday. I have used it a good bit.. again.. first charge so indexing is going on and this should be ‘bad’ battery life.

This morning, as of 9:30 it shows almost 6.5 hours of Screen On, 21 minutes of Screen Off and I have 48% battery remaining. I am pretty sure I could make this battery last through tonight if I had to based on this. Insane battery life. With heavy usage it has gone 19 hours so far.

But doesn't that usage time include time prior to the current charge as well?

I don’t know. Maybe someone can let us know. I do know I used the phone a LOT from yesterday to late last night.

I didn’t use it much before the full charge as I took it out of the box, did some basic setup and then put it on a charge at my desk. If there was time before the charge it was less than an hour .. at most.

My biggest complaint about my 7 was battery life, even after Apple swapped out the battery it was still barely making it on one charge through the day. The XR can't seem to drop below 50% even on my heaviest-use days. Yesterday I went to bed with over 50% left and I had well over 4 hours of SOT. This is insane.

Mine got down to around 30% so I broke down and charged it. From 2:30 yesterday to 1:00 today with more than average usage + likely indexing.

Using an iPad charger it took 1:40 to get it back to 100%.

Same here. Literally felt like I ALWAYS had to be plugged in with my 7. And any streaming I did drained the battery crazy fast. With the Xr I used it a lot during the day, then streamed an hour of monday night football, and still had 40% by 11pm. This is better than an all day phone for me. Hell, I could probably make a charge last two days if I wanted.

Similarly, that’s my only real complaint about the 7. I’m in low power mode constantly, but the thing still drains like a sieve - whether I’m actively using the phone or not. And god forbid I’m actually using it. In that case, I’m forced to remain close to an outlet/charger. Or carry around a bulky battery case.

If I had no issues with battery life, I could go another year without upgrading. Easily. The new phones look great, but the 7 does everything I need - and it’s still fairly snappy. But the fact is, I do have this issue, and thus the XR’s excellent battery life is really appealing.

If I end up choosing the XR over the XS (which is the direction I’m leaning at the moment), this will be the reason.

Battery life is insane. Granted, I am not looking at my phone as often trying to figure out the eye strain issues. But either way, this lasted me two days with my use case. I just hit 20% this morning so guess I need to put it on the charger!

Same. I put a new battery in my 7 (128gb) like 3-4 weeks ago and the battery life is crap on iOS12. I'm probably going to upgrade phones now over it and I did not want to upgrade this year due to the phone sizes. Xr is coming for me and I'm going to have to get over carrying a ***** Phablet.

Hi,
I only want to share great battery life I got with Xr. In low power mode I was able to have turn on display for 4 hours (of which was 1:03 google maps and navigation in car) and 7 hours in standby and still have 73% of battery. This is just outstanding.
