Is it as good as people make out? Charged mine to its max for the first time 10 hours ago and dropped by 33% with not a lot of usage, much of that whilst asleep.

Also, the new battery widget doesn’t show actual time spent using the phone since full charge, is there a way to get this back?

Yeah that is excessive and might be an app running in the background. I use mine moderately and I have not gone below 60%. I find it to have the best battery of any iPhone I have ever owned. Mine maybe goes down 2% at night with no use.

Mine is consistent with that. 2 percent drop over night.

4 of those apps in the picture is listed with background activity. Perhaps check that.

Background app refresh off yet this still appears, which makes no sense.

Is there any way of seeing time since last full charge and time used in that time? This used to be available before it changed to what is above. Nice and simple, hours and minutes and would be nice to have that back.

You've got almost 3 hours of screen-on time in your graph after you took it off the charger. That's almost 9 hours of screen-on time for the full battery. How much better are you looking for?

I am with you there. I mean, yes, I can work it out but I really don't want to spend more time than needs be - just tell me time since last charge and usage since last charge, for God's sake!

Yeah, not massively impressed so far. Let’s hope it will be optimised after a few more full charges.

Battery status is a joke....... You got 6 hours and looks like there about 60% left? No way

Look closer. That almost seven hours screen-on time was from the last 24 hours. 4 hours of that was before he charged the battery back up. The last 3 hours of usage were after the phones was charged up and taken off the charger.

The battery on this phone is insane.

I took it off charge at 9am. All day I’ve text. Played games. Listened to music. Made phone calls. It’s now 3am and I’ve got 30% battery.

Saturday I took it off charge at 8am. I went to the Harry Potter studio tour so for 5 hours I took pictures and videos. When I got back to the hotel at 11pm I had 60% battery.

That is insane. The 8 I’d have to charge twice a day.

What settings have you changed to achieve this? I need to know! And presumably that’s on low power mode?

Another thing that baffles me is the list of apps showing background usage even though background app refresh is off. Any ideas why?

Just because they are not refreshing the data, doesn't mean they are not running in the background - especially buggy apps like facebook.

I’m amazed by my XR battery coming from a 6S! I’m on it a lot during the day (when I should be working), I use GPS on maps on my commute home, whilst using Bluetooth to play music, I’m on the damn thing most of the evening and I go to bed with minimum 60% battery. No complaints here.

No, never been in low power mode.

I don't have bluetooth on or background app refresh, besides that everything else is normal.

Hmm, strange about mine then. Oh well, I’m used to carrying around a battery pack so no bother!

What sort of usage time are you getting per, say, 25% of battery?

I’m monitoring mine but it is quite annoying now having to add up each hour segment since full charge.

Yesterday I got about 4h and 20min per 25% of battery.

Ended the day with 04:42 SOT plus 34min screen off time.

Used about 30% of battery. Maybe 1 or 2% more.

Usage is mostly safari, instagram, WhatsApp and Spotify.

Topped up today to 82% and by now 2h SOT per about 12% of battery used.

I feel that if charged up to 100% this rate would be even better since the phone takes a lot of time before dropping to 99 and so on.

But I keep all my phones in the 40-80 battery charge range.

Ok, perhaps I was expecting too much and my battery is performing at a decent level. The below shows usage and charge from midday yesterday - 4hrs 24 screen time but bear in mind there would be 1.5-2 hours more prior to that that isn’t shown, so say around 6 and I have 27% left - crude estimate of around 8-8.5 hours based on that. That is good but it is also the same as I was getting from my 6 when it was new 3.5 years ago. Nowhere near as long life as Alex.jr but acceptable. Acceptable, not astonishing, though; the latter is what a lot of the reviews lead you to believe.

Over 4 hours for 25% = 16+ hours from a full charge. I think you’ve won the “best iPhone battery ever sold” award. That’s astonishing battery life.
