Attached below is my battery tab for you guys to see. First 3 or 4 days I was downloading a lot of things since the phone was new out of the box. The last 2 days reflect my normal working day usage.

I always track the 25% battery line to see the SOT and the last 2 days I had 4h and a few minutes more, being 4h the minimum.

Keep in mind that I disabled some battery eating features that I don’t use, like Siri.

Also, background app refresh off, location services only while using, and all those apple services that I think is a waste of battery, like frequent locations, apple ads, improve services Etc... all of those under privacy tab.

Overnight battery drain is sometimes 0% or up to 4%. Last night I had 4% drain on airplane mode. And 2 nights ago had 0% with phone working normal, just WiFi turned off.

Makes no sense but I guess the software isn’t a perfect mathematical equation.

May be a silly question but why do some bars show screen on and off time and some show nothing, ie. in the middle of the night when I’m asleep and not using it there are no “screen off” bars but currently there are some bars with both screen on and screen off. Surely if it isn’t used for the whole hour the bar should show 60 mins light blue?

Screen off time is the time used with some application while the screen is off. Spotify or maybe a call on WhatsApp with speakers on and screen turned off.

This is not idle time. Idle time is not shown under activity stats.

Those who got their XR in Oct/Nov, how much of a degradation have you seen in battery performance? I’ve had mine 7 months and have gone from 8-8.5hrs screen on from a full charge to 6-6.5hours. When I first got it, for a few months, I could take it off charge at 6am, get a whole day out of it and be on about 50%, then need to charge at about 6/7pm on the second day. Now I’m lucky to have more than 25% when waking on the second day.

I know Apple batteries are rubbish but that seems like excessive degradation.

Strange I am still at 100% and seldom get over 50% usage a day, mostly between 25 and 50%.

How are you charging? I use a Anker Qi Charger.

From the looks of the OP images he is running his battery down to near dead before recharging. That will not make for the best of battery health. The XR is like other iPhones and has a battery that should more than get the average user through the day with battery to spare.
[doublepost=1560331898][/doublepost]You are spending too much time worrying about your battery. Unless you are living on your phone.

My X was still at 100% for battery health after over a year and my introduction day max is still 100%. I just toss it on the Morphie charger at the end of the day.

My thoughts are that Apple batteries are good!

Either the charger out of the box or with an Anker Powerbank when out and about.

True, but I have cut down on doing that now as am aware that it impacts the battery, as evidenced by the fact that after 7 months my battery health is 98%. What is the optimal level to start charging at? 30-40%? And to full or within a certain range?

I wasn’t worried at first as I could go about my daily business for 1.5 days and not worry about getting it charged, now I can’t. Could accept it if it was 1-1.5 years but 7 months!

Just put it on the charger while you sleep. If you work straight 1.5 days on your phone it will need charging depending on how much used.

You are doing better but still worrying too much about your battery.

9 months old and battery has degenerated massively. Don’t even get a day out of it now. Anyone else’s gone down this badly?

My battery health has dropped to 96%. I attribute it to heavy usage. No noticeable drop in battery life.

Early this year tried to use the XR for as long as I can.

A short while back again I tried to use the XR for as long as I can.

In both cases, the iPhone last longer then I could. I am wondering if perhaps you are in an area with bad reception.

That’s remarkable battery life. How old is it?

Just checked my battery health and it is 97%.

Re being in an area of low signal - it is the same area as I have had used it the whole time so can’t being a reason for a drop in life by some 20-22 hours per charge.

I would take it to an Apple store but they’ll just say “battery health is normal for a 9 month old phone” and send me on my way.

Older than mine then which is odd that you get double the hours usage.

Worth taking it to Apple whilst still in the warranty?

I get that batteries degrade but from 8-10hours to 4-6 in a few months? Seems excessive.

Not sure but if you are saying battery is at 97% health, it’s most likely a software issue.

Yeah it must be, full charge 11 hours ago and now back on the battery pack after 5hrs screen time.

Worth going to Apple store?

I can say without a doubt that the XR battery is the best of any phone I've ever had, and I've had a lot of phones.

Best of any APPLE phone.. The XR isn’t in the same league as some of the big battery Android phones. Android is a non starter for many people, however.

Apple will tell you nothing is wrong. Most likely it’s down to how you’re using it. No way is it due to the battery degrading that badly yet. It’s frustrating, but the vast majority of these cases are not due to faulty hardware.

Mine actually drops close to 7-8% overnight when not charging. It’s a replacement phone (first one had a faulty Taptic Engine), and the original I had dropped in % about the same.

I did find that curious, but in actual use, it seems quite good.

Depends on how convenient it is for you to get to an apple store. If it is not too bad, you could try but likelihood of them just resetting your iPhone is pretty high.

iPhone XR owner for 4 months. The battery is amazing. Use it on low power mode and you’re going to hard pushed to drain the battery unless you’re using gps lots.

To the OP: depending on what you’ve got on your phone and what it’s capacity is any iPhone is going to use up more power in the first few days as it downloads photos and videos etc to the device.
